Apple warns millions of iPhones are exposed to attack

The Apple iPhone is the most popular smartphone in the United States and one of the most widely used devices in the world. An estimated 1.6 billion people rely on iPhones every day. That massive user base also makes the platform a prime target. 

Over the past few weeks, Apple has been sending out warnings about a serious security flaw. New data suggests the risk could affect roughly half of all iPhone users.

That puts hundreds of millions of devices in potential danger right now.

WHATSAPP WEB MALWARE SPREADS BANKING TROJAN AUTOMATICALLY

Late last month, Apple confirmed two critical vulnerabilities in WebKit. WebKit powers Safari and every browser that runs on iOS. According to Apple, the flaws were used in an extremely sophisticated attack that targeted specific individuals. The problem allowed malicious websites to trick iPhones and iPads into running harmful code. Once that happens, attackers could gain control of the device, steal passwords or access payment information. In simple terms, visiting the wrong website could have been enough.

Apple moved quickly to release a fix. The patch is included in the latest software update. The problem is that many people have not installed it yet. Estimates suggest that about 50 percent of eligible users have not upgraded from iOS 18 to iOS 26. That would leave around 800 million devices vulnerable worldwide. Data from StatCounter paints an even worse picture. It estimates that only 20 percent of users have updated so far. Once security details become public, the risk grows fast. Attackers know exactly what to exploit.

There is no setting to flip and no safe browsing habit that fixes this issue. The vulnerability lives deep inside the browser engine. Security experts say there is no workaround or user behavior that meaningfully reduces the risk. Installing the latest software is the only effective defense. Apple is no longer offering a security-only update for users who want to stay on iOS 18. Unless your device cannot run iOS 26, the fix is only available through iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2.

Updating is quick and usually painless. If automatic updates are enabled, the fix may already be installed.

If not, follow these steps:

Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi and has enough battery life or is plugged in.

Keeping your iPhone updated is critical, but it should not be your only line of defense. Strong antivirus software adds another layer of protection by scanning malicious links, blocking risky websites and alerting you to suspicious activity before damage is done.

This matters even more when attacks rely on compromised websites or hidden browser exploits. Security software can help catch threats that slip through and give you extra visibility into what is happening on your device.

Think of it as backup protection. Software updates close known holes, while strong antivirus tools help guard against the next one.

Acting ICE director defends agency's focus on targeting criminal illegal aliens, details threat to agents

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Todd Lyons said Sunday that local governments' sanctuary policies and refusals to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement are forcing agents into communities, increasing risks for officers and straining law enforcement operations nationwide.

"You would not see this many ICE agents and special agents on the street [in sanctuary jurisdictions] focused on the criminal illegal-alien mission if they would just turn people over to us. That's the key," Lyons said on "Sunday Morning Futures."

Lyons said 70% of illegal immigrants that ICE arrested last year have criminal convictions, pending criminal charges or criminal histories in their countries of origin, and claimed the agency focused its efforts on people with outstanding deportation orders issued by an immigration judge who have failed to leave the country.

Lyons criticized local officials for invoking dangerous rhetoric about ICE. 

He said many of the federal agents deployed to Minneapolis, where tensions have been heightened following the death of Renee Good, are there to protect the personnel who are trying to make arrests, claiming that team sizes have increased significantly as they are forced to deploy additional personnel. 

"In my 30 years of law enforcement, I never thought we would have to send law enforcement to protect law enforcement. But I don't think you'd see as many of the issues if political leaders would allow their local and state law enforcement to work with us," he said.

He criticized elected officials for automatically assuming ICE is doing something wrong and disputed the idea that the agency would target U.S. citizens.

"And now... you're seeing attacks on ICE officers and our other federal partners for only going out there and doing their law enforcement mission," he said.

In response to persistent clashes between civilians and ICE officers, particularly in Minnesota, President Donald Trump has threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy U.S. military forces to the state if officials do not start cracking down on anti-ICE agitators.

A senior U.S. official confirmed to Fox News Digital that 1,500 troops have been readied for mobilization. The U.S. Army's 11th Airborne Division, which is based in Alaska and specializes in cold-weather and mountain warfare, has been ordered to prepare for deployment, the official said.

Left-wing network drops Michael Cohen after he claims he was 'pressured and coerced' in Trump cases

Left-wing media company MeidasTouch cut ties Saturday with President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, and announced it wouldn't be carrying his shows after he announced he felt "pressured and coerced" to deliver testimony that would help secure convictions against the president in New York.

"Programming note: MeidasTouch Network will no longer be producing or carrying the shows Political Beatdown or Mea Culpa with Michael Cohen," the left-leaning company posted on X.

Cohen, an outspoken critic and former ally of the president who was a key prosecution witness in two New York cases against Trump, accused New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of pursuing evidence squarely aimed at getting Trump. He alleged in a Substack post on Friday that prosecutors in both the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the New York Attorney General’s Office were uninterested in testimony that didn’t fit their narrative.

Cohen also addressed MeidasTouch's decision to drop him in a Substack post published Sunday.

The former Trump lawyer said, "The headlines did not do the post justice so I ask you to read it. But my position has never wavered. I criticize the system because I was brutalized by it. More than once. That criticism comes from scars, not slogans. Regardless of who you are, justice must remain blind and equal to all."

He also addressed criticism that he was coming forward in the hopes of being pardoned.

"Some have claimed that my Friday post was motivated by a desire for a pardon. Let me be honest. Of course I would welcome the erasure of a felony conviction. Who wouldn’t? But the request I have before the White House is far larger than me," he wrote.

The former Trump fixer testified in a civil case brought by James' office in 2023, where Trump was found liable for fraudulently inflating his assets to obtain favorable loan terms. He also took the stand in Bragg's case in 2024, where Trump was ultimately found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records.

"I felt pressured and coerced to only provide information and testimony that would satisfy the government’s desire to build the cases against and secure a judgment and convictions against President Trump," Cohen wrote in the Friday Substack post.

Cohen accused both James and Bragg of using their high-profile cases to elevate their careers, claiming they sought credit as officials who "took down Trump."

He wrote that he wasn't writing in defense of Trump.

"You may reasonably ask why I am speaking out now. The answer is simple. I have witnessed firsthand the damage done when prosecutors pick their target first and then seek evidence to fit a predetermined narrative," Cohen added in the post.

Trump reacted to Cohen's claims in a post to Truth Social on Friday. 

"These horrible Radical Left people, doing everything possible to destroy our Country, should pay a big price for this! It was a SET UP from the beginning. New York Courts, with many fair and wonderful Judges, are embarrassed by what has happened! We cannot let this pass," the president wrote.

Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to several federal crimes, including campaign finance violations, tax evasion and lying to Congress.

Carson Beck is one win away from being a college national champion, and he didn't even have to juggle classes to get this far.

Beck has led the Miami Hurricanes all the way to the College Football Playoff title game after transferring to the South Florida school. Beck, by his own admission, has not had many distractions off the field.

"No class. I graduated two years ago," Beck said.

"Obviously, I'm not enrolling again next semester. I'll be done after this season," Beck continued.

FBI captures Top Ten Most Wanted fugitive in Mexico sought over 2016 murder of NC co-worker

The FBI announced on Saturday that it had arrested Alejandro Rosales Castillo, who has been a Ten Most Wanted Fugitive since 2017. 

FBI Director Kash Parel said Castillo was arrested in Mexico on Friday. He had been wanted in connection to the 2016 murder of his former co-worker, 23-year-old "Sandy" Ly Le, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"Alejandro Castillo is the fifth FBI Ten Most Wanted fugitive captured since last year, more than the entire previous four years combined. That reflects leadership, not luck," Patel said in a statement. "When law enforcement is given clear backing and the freedom to act, results follow. The work of the FBI Charlotte field office, our state and local partners, and Mexican authorities was exceptional, and this arrest finally opens the door to long-overdue justice for Sandy Ly Le’s family."

Rep. Pat Harrington, R-N.C., praised the capture and thanked the FBI's Charlotte field office for working to pursue Castillo.

"Nearly nine years after a Charlotte murder, the man responsible is finally in custody," Harrington wrote on X. "Grateful for the persistence of [FBI Charlotte], CMPD, and our federal partners who never stopped working to bring justice home to North Carolina."

FBI Charlotte said in a press release that Castillo was captured in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, on Friday. The field office said Castillo is detained in Mexico and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.

"The FBI and our partners at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have worked tirelessly to find and arrest Alex Castillo. For more than nine years, he lived a normal life, likely believing he would never be captured, but our experienced investigators never gave up the hunt for justice," FBI Charlotte Special Agent in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr. said in a statement. "Sadly, Sandy’s family began another new year without her, we hope knowing her accused killer is in custody will provide some level of solace now."

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chief of Police Estella D. Patterson said the case showed the power of law enforcement cooperation.

"This joint effort sends a clear message that those who commit violent crimes cannot outrun justice. Bringing this fugitive to justice makes Charlotte and other communities safer, and while nothing can heal the loss Sandy’s family has endured, we hope this step brings them some peace," Patterson said in a statement.

Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, also commented on the arrest, vowing that "those who engage in violence will not get away with it — no matter how hard they try."

Castillo apparently owed Le $1,000, and she disappeared after agreeing to meet with him at a gas station. Authorities later found her vehicle in Phoenix.

Castillo was added to the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list in October 2017. Two other suspects were charged in connection to the murder in 2017, according to WJZY.

Ahmia Feaster, who was initially listed as missing, turned herself in to authorities in 2017 and was extradited from Mexico to North Carolina, WTXF-TV reported at the time. The outlet said Feaster faced several charges, including accessory charges related to the murder.

A third person, Felipe Ulloa, was charged with accessory after the fact of murder in March 2017 in connection with the murder of Le, WTXF-TV reported.
