Pritzker trolls Trump by 'renaming' Lake Michigan as 'Lake Illinois,' joking he'd annex Green Bay

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has taken a satirical jab at President Donald Trump’s effort to rename the Gulf of Mexico and annex Greenland. 

A straight-faced Pritzker released a choreographed video on Friday, with fake camera shutter clicks going off in the background, where he asserts that he is renaming Lake Michigan to "Lake Illinois," poking fun at Trump’s recent executive order where he changed the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.

"The world's finest geographers, experts who study the Earth's natural environment, have concluded a decades-long council and determined that a great lake deserves to be named after a great state," Pritzker said. 

"So today, I'm issuing a proclamation declaring that hereinafter, Lake Michigan shall be known as Lake Illinois. The proclamation has been forwarded to Google to ensure the world's maps reflect this momentous change."

Trump signed Executive Order 14172 on his first day back in office which changed the name of the ocean basin. The order also renamed the highest peak in North America to "Mount McKinley," reversing the 2015 decision to call it by its centuries-old name Denali.

Google has said it will make Trump’s changes once the Department of the Interior updates the Geographic Names Information System. As of today, Google Maps still refers to it as the Gulf of Mexico.

In the video, Pritzker then switches his attention to Green Bay, a Wisconsin city near Lake Michigan. And just like how Trump vowed to take over Greenland from Denmark, Pritzker pledged to snap up Green Bay from The Badger State.  

"In addition, the recent announcement that to protect the homeland, the United States will be purchasing Greenland... Illinois will now be annexing Green Bay to protect itself against enemies, foreign and domestic," Pritzker said.

"I've also instructed my team to work diligently to prepare for an important announcement next week regarding the Mississippi River."

"God bless America and bear down," Pritzker said, a nod to Wisconsin’s Green Bay Packers, one of Chicago Bears' biggest rivals.

The video comes on the heels of a Justice Department lawsuit filed against the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago for allegedly interfering with federal immigration enforcement with its sanctuary polices.

The lawsuit claims that several state and local laws are designed to interfere with the federal government's enforcement of federal immigration law in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.

Pritzker and Trump have also clashed over Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship, with Pritzker declaring the move unconstitutional. 

Trump's order, "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship," asserts that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution does not automatically confer American citizenship to individuals who are born within the United States. 

They also feuded during Trump’s first term in office when Pritzker claimed the state only recovered a quarter of its requested personal protective equipment from the federal government.

Migrants turning back due to tighter border security, CBP memo shows

President Donald Trump’s promised border crackdown appears to be influencing groups of migrants looking to enter the United States illegally.

Internal Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) memos obtained by Fox News indicate that two groups of migrants recently ended their journeys to the U.S. and turned around to return to their home countries.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Honduran officers encountered a group of 23 migrants previously headed for the United States. The individuals hailed from Honduras, Venezuela, Panama and El Salvador.

According to the CBP memo, upon interviewing the migrants, officials learned that they had entered Mexico through the country’s border with Guatemala. However, they decided to turn around after "learning about the multi-agency force security on the Southwest Border in social media and through family members in the United States."

In its memo, CBP also noted that the migrants surrendered to Mexican authorities before being sent back to Guatemala where they boarded buses headed to Honduras.

CBP detailed a Feb. 3 incident in another internal memo obtained by Fox News in which the Honduran authorities encountered a group of 26 migrants. These migrants were also headed for the U.S., but turned around when they learned about the increased security and opted instead to return to their countries of origin.

The migrants in this group were apparently from Venezuela and Cuba. They were initially turned away by Nicaraguan immigration officials and sent back to Honduras, but after a discussion between the two nations, they were allowed to cross into Nicaragua as they made their way back home.

President Donald Trump focused much of his 2024 campaign on illegal immigration, vowing to take a completely different approach from former President Joe Biden. While campaigning for his second term, Trump often appeared with families who lost loved ones to illegal immigrant crime or fentanyl.

Following November’s election, there were reports of illegal immigrants leaving the U.S. or choosing to "self-deport" prior to Trump’s return to D.C. out of fears of his potential policies.

The first piece of legislation that President Trump signed in his second term was the Laken Riley Act, named for a nursing student who was killed during a jog on the University of Georgia’s campus by an illegal immigrant. Jose Ibarra, who previously had been arrested but never detained by ICE, received a life prison sentence for killing 22-year-old Laken Riley.

President Trump is also taking a novel approach to detaining illegal immigrants. Under President Trump’s order on "Expanding Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to Full Capacity," illegal immigrants will be housed with the 15 last detainees remaining in the infamous facility.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who joined an immigration raid last month in New York City, confirmed that a second flight of illegal immigrants left for Gitmo ahead of her visit.

Noem previously said that only "the worst of the worst" of illegal immigrants would be sent to the facility in Cuba, which could eventually be home to up to 30,000 migrants.

'BACK TO PLASTIC!': Trump vows executive order ending 'ridiculous' push for paper straws

President Donald Trump is planning to end bans and restrictions on plastic straws, according to his recent post on Truth Social.

"I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don't work," Trump posted Friday. "BACK TO PLASTIC!"

If signed, the executive order would affect laws in several Democratic-run states that currently have bans or restrictions on single-use plastic straws, such as California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Oregon, Vermont, Rhode Island and Washington.

The impending executive order comes just months after the Biden administration announced plans in July to phase out single-use plastic in the federal government.

Blue states such as California and New York currently have laws in place limiting the use of single-use plastic straws in full-service restaurants, unless it is requested by the customer.

Democratic states have also adopted the use of paper straws as a more environment-friendly alternative, which has been criticized by Trump for years, who wrote in a 2019 social media post that "liberal paper straws don't work."

"Greatest President ever!" wrote Elon Musk, who is leading efforts at the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, in a post on X regarding the president's plan for plastic straws.

Restaurant guide's Florida expansion latest effort to showcase new dining destinations

One of the world's most prestigious culinary guides continues to broaden its North American reach.

The Michelin Guide announced this week it will be expanding its selection in Florida with three new destinations in 2025.

Restaurants in greater Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach County and Pinellas County, home to Clearwater and St. Petersburg, will be added this year — joining the Miami, Orlando and Tampa areas.

The Florida expansion will grow further to become a statewide selection starting in 2026.

"Florida continues to raise the bar with its emerging culinary talent, international influences and the palpable passion of its local restaurant communities," Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said in a news release. 

"Over the past three years, we've seen the Florida selection grow and strengthen as our inspectors shined a spotlight on their discoveries. We look forward to exploring these new destinations and highlighting the excellence of their local restaurant scene."

The first Michelin Guide in North America was released in 2005 for New York. In the 20 years since, 14 more guides have followed – most of them in the post-pandemic era.

Guides were added for San Francisco in 2007, Chicago in 2011, Washington, D.C., in 2017 and California in 2019.

FAST-FOOD MENU ITEMS THAT CHEFS LIKE TO EAT

Five regions – three in Florida and two in Canada – got their own guides in 2022. 

Miami, Orlando and Tampa were the first cities to represent Florida, while Canada made its debut with Toronto and Vancouver.

Colorado and Atlanta were added in 2023. Texas was added last year, along with Mexico and Quebec.

"Before a new guide is established in a given state or country, the inspection team conducts an initial study of the area," Michelin Guide spokesperson Carly Grieff told Fox News Digital. "During that destination assessment, the inspectors evaluate the main major culinary hot spots for the inaugural selection."

Grieff added that "as the Michelin Guide works on a long-term scale, we observe very often the extension of its geographical scope within a country, a region or a state over time, which is evident in the expansion to three new destinations for the 2025 Florida selection."

The latest expansion gives restaurants in these areas a chance to earn a coveted Michelin star.

Michelin stars are considered one of the most respected and influential restaurant rankings, along with Zagat. 

A three-star rating is the best.

Michelin Guide inspectors visit restaurants anonymously and judge them based on the following criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, personality of the chef in the cuisine, value and consistency between visits, according to the website.

Inspectors are already scouting locations and making dining reservations in the new territories, according to a news release.

"Once all the conditions are present to highlight the quality of the culinary scene in a given city, region or country, the Michelin Guide begins its process."

While the Michelin Guide has an eye toward further expansion, Grief said, "we don't have any news to share about new guide destinations in North America at this time."

'Losing their minds': Dem lawmakers face backlash for invoking 'unhinged' violent rhetoric against Musk

Several Democratic lawmakers drew the ire of conservatives on social media after showing up at a rally against Elon Musk’s DOGE efforts and riling up the crowd with disparaging comments about the Tesla CEO, including calling him a Nazi.

"Elon Musk is a Nazi nepo baby, a godless lawless billionaire, who no one elected," Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said at a rally outside the Treasury Department where protesters were speaking out against DOGE.

"Elon, this is the American people. This is not your trashy Cybertruck that you can just dismantle, pick apart, and sell the pieces of."

At one point during her remarks, Pressley said, "We will see you in the court, in Congress, in the streets."

"Elon Musk is seizing the power that belongs to the American people," Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said while shaking her fist alongside Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif. "We are here to fight back."

"We are gonna be in your face, we are gonna be on your a--es, and we are going to make sure you understand what democracy looks like, and this ain’t it," Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said at the rally. 

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was also in attendance and told the crowd that Musk's DOGE efforts are "taking away everything we have."

"God d---it shut down the Senate!" Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., said. "WE ARE AT WAR!"

Conservatives on social media quickly pushed back on the comments, with some accusing Pressley of inciting violence.

"These people are totally sane…," Greg Price, Trump '24 deputy rapid response director, sarcastically posted on X along with a supercut of clips from the rally.

"Democrat lawmakers are losing their minds now that their USAID scam is exposed," conservative influencer Paul Szypula posted on X. "Pressley needs to be censured for inciting violence."

"Making Jasmine Crockett the face of your party is certainly a choice and one I highly encourage," Red State writer Bonchie posted on X.

"Rep. Jasmine Crockett is totally unhinged," conservative commentator Ben Kew posted on X. 

"A screeching Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren says Elon Musk is ‘seizing power from the American people’ by not allowing congress members to waste taxpayer money," Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, posted on X. "I knew Trump's 2nd presidency would be good but didn't realize it would be this good."

"This sounds like a call for insurrection to me," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., posted on X in response to McIver. "CC: @TheJusticeDept @FBI."

Fox News Digital reached out to the office of Reps. Pressley, Crockett and McIver.

The Democrat lawmakers have come out against Musk after he was granted access to a Treasury department called the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which disburses trillions in payments each year, including Social Security checks and federal salaries, through DOGE, which is tasked with reducing federal spending.

"The @DOGE team discovered, among other things, that payment approval officers at Treasury were instructed always to approve payments, even to known fraudulent or terrorist groups," Musk wrote on X in defense of his actions. "They literally never denied a payment in their entire career. Not even once."

In a letter Tuesday to federal lawmakers, a Treasury Department official said a tech executive working with Musk's Department of Government Efficiency will have "read-only access" to the government's payment system.

Schumer mocked for Corona and guac clip warning Trump tariffs will hurt Super Bowl parties: 'Not good at this'

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer was criticized for his public response to President Donald Trump threatening a potential trade war with Mexico and Canada.

Just prior to Trump negotiating separate weekslong pauses on major tariffs set to go into effect, Schumer sought to make a kitchen table issue of their potential negative effects ahead of the Super Bowl – which is airing Sunday on FOX.

"It’s going to affect beer, OK," Schumer said, holding up a tall can of Corona Extra. "Most of it, Corona here, comes from Mexico."

"It’s going to affect your guac – because what is guacamole made of? Avocados. If you have pizza, it's going to affect the cost of cheese."

SCHUMER SUPPORTS DEMS DELAYING ALL TRUMP NOMINEES THAT LACK UNANIMOUS SUPPORT

Schumer, D-N.Y., added that tariffs will mean "higher prices for New Yorkers" and that "everything you were promised during the election is out the window if these tariffs go through."

Left-leaning comedian Jon Stewart opened his "Daily Show" by lambasting Trump’s initial orders regarding federal email pronouns but also saved some comic invective for Schumer.

"Your response to the trade war is to f---ing tell us guacamole is made of avocados?" Stewart said, adding that Democrats need to stop "trotting Schumer out every time Trump traverses into the unreal – He’s not good at this."

In a now-deleted Father’s Day post on X, Schumer photographed himself in front of a grill with raw burger patties topped with cheese – with commenters suggesting the Democrat misrepresented his grilling skills in that cheese is added after the burger is cooked.

ELON DUNKS ON SEN. SCHUMER OVER DOGE CRITICISMS

After Schumer’s beer and avocado comments, critics, including conservative pundit Matt Walsh, said the lawmaker’s claim that "most beer" comes from Mexico is false.

"Corona is one of the few exceptions, and it tastes like dishwater. All the good beer is brewed right here in America," Walsh said as Schumer’s state is home to hundreds of breweries, and the northeast region is also home to top brands Yuengling, Samuel Adams, Tröegs, Natty Boh and Straub.

"Someone want to remind Chuck that Genessee beer is made in Rochester: [In] the state he supposedly represents," an X critic said.

To that end, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp referenced Schumer’s past cookout faux-pas, posting a selfie with a can of Coors and the caption.

"Senator Schumer may want to stick to politics and leave beer (and cooking burgers) to the rest of us. This [Coors] was brewed in the great state of Georgia, by the way!"

OutKick founder Clay Travis said the clip showed why Democrats "can’t handle the Trump administration so far."

"[The] Trump team is moving at the speed of business & the Democrats are moving at the speed of government. Watch this Chuck Schumer awkward attack. They’re too slow to react," Travis said.

Former Trump aide Steve Cortes remarked that Schumer’s remarks had "echoes of Joe Biden’s ‘Despacito’ stunt" – a 2020 incident when Biden spoke at a Hispanic Heritage event in Kissimmee, Florida, with the song’s performer, Luis Fonsi.

Biden told the crowd he had "one thing to say" – and pulled out his phone to play "Despacito," which came through grainy on the event’s microphone as he bobbed his head with the music.

In another post, Rep. Beth van Duyne, R-Texas, said Trump’s tariff strategy proved the effectiveness of "negotiating from a position of strength" while Schumer is "standing around with a beer in one hand and an avocado in the other, refusing to recognize this as a win."

Other critics claimed Schumer asserted the products he showcased could not be produced without Mexico.

"We produce enough avocados in California, Florida and Hawaii," one commenter claimed.

"Who had Chuck Schumer selling Mexican beer on their 2025 bingo card," another X user wrote.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday the clip proves Democrats remain out of touch with Americans, and that while "Schumer is whining about the cost of a pint of beer, President Trump is talking about saving American lives" from fentanyl.

The U.S. produced nearly 80% of its beer consumed in 2023, according to the National Beer Wholesalers Association. About 20% was imported, chiefly from Mexico, Germany, Holland, Canada, Ireland and Japan. U.S. avocado consumption counts Mexico as its largest share. However, in the 1980s, domestic production contributed to the largest proportion of consumption.

Schumer did not respond to a request for comment.

Republican state AGs back Trump birthright citizenship order in court filing: 'Taxpayers are on the hook'

FIRST ON FOX: Republican attorneys general from 18 states are pushing back against lawsuits filed by Democrat AGs and legal groups nationwide challenging the Trump administration’s executive order on birthright citizenship through an amicus brief filing set to be filed Monday, Fox News Digital has learned.

"If someone comes on a tourist visa to have an anchor baby, they are not under that original meaning of the United States Constitution," Iowa AG Brenna Bird told Fox News Digital in an interview Monday. Bird is the lead AG leading an amicus brief filing in support of the executive order on Monday.

"Oftentimes, when this has happened. It's the taxpayers that are paying for the health care through Medicaid or through hospitals, paying for care for someone to have a child, or the state child health insurance system as well," Bird said. "Each state has a system that helps kids without insurance, and so the taxpayers are on the hook here for all the costs."

TRUMP ADMIN HITS BACK AS ACLU LAUNCHES LAWSUIT ON BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: ‘READY TO FACE THEM’

Bird's amicus brief comes in response to 18 Democrat-led states who launched their own lawsuit, claiming the order is unconstitutional and "unprecedented." 

"The President has no authority to rewrite or nullify a constitutional amendment or duly enacted statute. Nor is he empowered by any other source of law to limit who receives United States citizenship at birth," the lawsuit reads.

Attorneys general from California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine and others signed on to the suit, along with the city and county of San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration the same day he signed the order "on behalf of organizations with members whose babies born on U.S. soil will be denied citizenship under the order." The ACLU also claimed the order is unconstitutional and against congressional intent and Supreme Court precedent.

Bird's brief – signed by Republican AGs from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming – focuses on several arguments. 

The first part of the 13-page brief claims that President Donald Trump's executive order complies with the "original meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment." The second portion claims Trump's order "reduces harm to the states."

The brief states that the "Plaintiffs’ erroneous Citizenship Clause interpretation will continue the powerful incentive for citizens of foreign countries to give birth on American soil, even if they must illegally enter this country to do so."

"The lure of American citizenship motivates pregnant women to travel to America to give birth," the brief reads. "Some women, desperate to give birth in the United States, cross the border the day they deliver their baby." 

A border hospital administrator described witnessing pregnant women arriving at the hospital in active labor, still wet and shivering from crossing the river, determined to give birth in the U.S., the brief, which will be filed in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts, says.

PRESIDENT TRUMP'S BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP EXECUTIVE ORDER FACES LEGAL CHALLENGES FROM 22 STATES

Trump's order, titled the "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship" states that "the privilege of United States citizenship does not automatically extend to persons born in the United States" when the individual's parents are illegal immigrants living in the U.S. or if their presence is lawful but temporary. It was among the first orders he signed after taking office in early January.

"President Trump is restoring the meaning and value of American citizenship, and also making sure that if someone is breaking the law, they won't be rewarded for that by getting citizenship," Bird said. "And so it's following the Constitution and making sure that we're upholding our immigration laws."
