Trump administration to roll out earliest and most streamlined FAFSA form in history

EXCLUSIVE — The Trump administration has announced plans to roll out the earliest and most efficient Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in history for the 2026-2027 school year.

The FAFSA form is currently online, and applicants can finish the process in minutes, the administration said.

So far, more than 40,000 students have completed the new application.

A Department of Education spokesperson said the FAFSA process under the Biden administration could take more than three days to complete. The Trump administration has made streamlining the form a priority, calling it a correction to what it described as the previous administration’s botched rollout.

"After years of mismanagement under the previous administration’s leadership, the Trump administration prioritized accessibility and technical expertise to deliver the form for American students and families at a historic pace," the Department of Education said.

The Trump administration’s implementation of the new FAFSA process followed a beta model that launched on Aug. 3. After several test runs across the country, the department determined the form was ready to go live Tuesday.

User feedback showed that 97% of respondents reported satisfaction with the FAFSA form and 90% said it took a reasonable amount of time to complete.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said no one thought making the FAFSA form easier to do and launching earlier than usual was achievable.

"I am extremely proud to announce the earliest launch of the FAFSA form in history, which ensures American students and families have access to critical resources as they begin or continue their postsecondary education journey," McMahon said.

"No one would have thought this was possible after the Biden administration infamously botched FAFSA’s rollout two short years ago. Under President Trump’s leadership, our talented team has redesigned and streamlined the process, so all American students can now successfully complete the form in minutes."

In December 2020, Congress passed the bipartisan FAFSA Simplification Act and FUTURE Act to streamline the federal student aid application process for students.

Since the Trump administration’s first-term efforts in 2020, it has advanced the initiative further.

Despite efforts to streamline the FAFSA process, students last year were left waiting for months to know how much they would receive in financial aid. The delays left seniors unsure of aid decisions, forcing many colleges to push back priority admissions deadlines.

In March, the administration announced an improvement in FAFSA applications submitted and processed compared to results under the Biden administration.

It touted that more than 8 million FAFSA forms were successfully submitted and processed, a 50% increase over the number of applications submitted in spring last year.

A spokesperson for former President Joe Biden did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Kamala Harris rejects idea that bungled 'View' interview was tipping point in campaign

Former Vice President Kamala Harris addressed her bungled answer from a 2024 interview on "The View" during Tuesday's edition of the ABC talk show about her new book, "107 Days."

"The book is about a reflection, and that day and that interview for me, really was symbolic of the issue," Harris said, telling the co-hosts she thought the differences between her and former President Joe Biden were "obvious."

Co-host Sunny Hostin asked Harris during the October 2024 interview if there was anything she would have done differently from Biden throughout their term together. Harris responded at the time, "Not a thing comes to mind," which appeared to cement the perception that she wasn’t a change candidate."

Hostin pressed Harris again Tuesday, asking about her differences with Biden. The former VP admitted she knew her close ties to the president would become an issue.

"In the moment, I knew," Hostin told Harris, referencing her question posed to the former vice president. "The Trump campaign weaponized your answer against you, my question, and some, including James Carville and Jake Tapper, point to that answer as a turning point in your candidacy."

Hostin asked Harris if she believed the moment tipped the election.

"No, no," Harris said as co-host Joy Behar chimed in, "Good, because Sunny doesn't want to take the blame."

Harris said during the interview that she didn't fully appreciate how significant an issue her closeness to Biden was during the election cycle. She believed during the campaign she often pointed out the differences between her and Biden without seeming disloyal.

Hostin added, "That President Biden was deeply unpopular, I did realize that."

Her response to Hostin's question at the time went viral for the wrong reasons. It appeared in ads for President Donald Trump and was widely viewed as a damaging moment for her candidacy.

The former vice president also addressed the moment in her book and wrote she had no idea she "pulled the pin on a hand grenade" in her answer to Hostin's question.

"Stationed at various places around the set, my staff were beside themselves. Political operatives have an eye to see a moment, and I could kick myself for giving the other side that moment. During the commercial break, while I was having a bit of fun with some young students I’d noticed in the audience who were obviously playing hooky, offering to write notes to their teachers after the show, Opal [Vadhan] passed me a note from our team, telling me to return to that question and mention that a big difference would be that I would put a Republican in my cabinet," she wrote.

However, Harris acknowledged the damage had already been done.

ICE recaptures illegal immigrants who escaped after allegedly choking Border Patrol agent

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) captured two illegal immigrants who escaped custody after allegedly choking a female Border Patrol agent.

Juan Carmen Pardon Mendez, 29, and Juan Carlos Padron Barron, 23, both from Mexico, have been "taken back into custody and will be criminally prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed under the law," according to ICE’s Houston office.

ICE said both men "escaped from custody on Sept. 22 in Conroe, Texas, after one of them was able to get out of [his] restraints and choked a female Border Patrol agent who was transferring them to the Montgomery Processing Center."

"It is sickening that another law enforcement officer has been needlessly harmed as a direct result of the continued demonization of legitimate law enforcement activities by political leaders and certain members of the media," ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations acting Field Office Director Gabriel Martinez said in a statement.

"Every time they label the brave men and women who work for ICE, CBP, or Border Patrol as Nazis or bounty hunters, they might as well paint a bright target on their backs because attacks like this are inevitable and will continue to occur," he added.

Both suspects were captured Tuesday with help from law enforcement partners, ICE said.

They initially were detained "during an ICE-led multi-agency enforcement operation targeting violent criminal aliens and egregious immigration offenders near Spring, Texas," according to the agency.

"Padron Barron has illegally entered the U.S. at least three times and was previously expelled on Dec. 13, 2022, and Jan. 1, 2023," ICE also said. "This is the first time that U.S. immigration officials have encountered Padron Mendez."

ICE added that the operations that resulted in the initial arrests of both men "are part of the current administration’s focus on restoring public safety by targeting the ‘worst of the worst’ illegal aliens and have resulted in historic numbers of transnational gang members and dangerous child predators being removed from local communities throughout Southeast Texas."

Sarah Ferguson dropped by multiple charities after calling Jeffrey Epstein 'generous and supreme friend'

Prince Andrew's ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has been dropped as a patron for multiple charities after leaked emails revealed the Duchess of York referring to Jeffrey Epstein as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend."

"Following the information shared this weekend on the Duchess of York's correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia's House has taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity," a spokesperson for Julia's House, a children's hospice organization, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We have advised the Duchess of York of this decision and thank her for her past support."

According to the Associated Press, Ferguson has also been dropped by the Teenage Cancer Trust and Natasha Allergy Research Foundation. The Prevent Breast Cancer also announced they had dropped the duchess as patron.

The British Heart Foundation also dropped the duchess as the charity's ambassador, according to the BBC. The Children's Literacy Charity cut ties with Ferguson as well, the outlet reported.

A representative for Ferguson did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of York — who divorced Prince Andrew in 1996 — reached out to Epstein in 2011 after publicly denouncing their friendship during an interview with the Evening Standard.

During the interview, Fergusson expressed her "deep regret" and promised to "have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again," three years after he had been imprisoned for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

In an alleged email to Epstein following the interview, Ferguson referred to the disgraced sex offender as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend."

"I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read and I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that," Ferguson allegedly wrote.

"I was advised, in no uncertain terms, to have nothing to do with you and to not speak or email you and if I did I would cause more problems to you, [Prince Andrew] and myself," she continued. "I was instructed to act with the utmost speed if I would have any chance of holding on to my career as a children’s book author and a children’s philanthropist."

In a statement to The Guardian, a representative for Ferguson said she stood by her public condemnation of Epstein.

"Like many people, she was taken in by [Epstein’s] lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with pedophilia," the statement read. "She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats."

Epstein was found dead in his New York jail cell weeks after his 2019 arrest. The American financier was awaiting trial on U.S. federal sex trafficking charges involving dozens of teenage girls and young women, some as young as 14. Investigators ruled his death a suicide.

Epstein's former girlfriend, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 for helping lure teenage girls to be sexually abused by him. She is serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Ferguson, who remained friends with Prince Andrew after their public divorce, stood by her ex-husband as he faced sexual assault allegations amid his association with Epstein.

Buckingham Palace stripped Andrew of his military affiliations and royal patronages in January 2022.

Rabbi honors Charlie Kirk's enduring legacy of defending Israel 'with clarity and courage'

An American rabbi is pointing out that Charlie Kirk's impact will last far beyond his commitment to the Christian faith — and notes that Kirk "defended Israel with clarity and courage."

Rabbi Pinchas Taylor of the American Faith Coalition, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, told Fox News Digital, "Charlie Kirk was far more than a political commentator. He was a man of deep and unapologetic faith who lived every day guided by conviction and compassion — and in doing so, he made America a better country."

Pinchas added that Kirk "loved his family fiercely, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Jewish people, and defended Israel with clarity and courage."

At a time when antisemitism in this country "too often rears its head," added Pinchas, "Charlie’s loyalty and friendship reminded Jews everywhere that they were not alone."

The rabbi's comments come as more than 100,000 are said to be attending the memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday to honor Kirk's legacy.

The rabbi pointed out that Kirk, "even within his own political circles, where extremes and conspiracies threatened to hijack the conversation, he was a voice of sanity, reason and principle."

He added, "He did not run from disagreement. He welcomed it — knowing that real growth comes when we learn to listen, debate and engage with dignity."

He knew that America’s greatness rests on the values of the Hebrew Bible, the shared Judeo-Christian tradition that teaches us about justice, freedom, and the divine image within every human being."

The rabbi added, "His life was a testimony to the power of living by faith and building bridges across communities."

Aces star A'ja Wilson makes WNBA history after winning 4th MVP award

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has once again been named WNBA MVP, and she made league history with her latest award.

Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to win the MVP award four times, beating Minnesota Lynx leader Napheesa Collier to claim back-to-back honors.

The league announced Wilson received 51 first-place votes and 657 points, finishing ahead of Collier, who had 18 first-place votes and 534 points.

Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas (third place, three first-place votes, 391 points), Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray (fourth place, 180 points) and Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (fifth place, 93 points) rounded out the top five.

Wilson joined elite company last season after winning her third MVP, becoming just the fourth player to do so, along with Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson. She was also just the second player to win unanimously, joining Cynthia Cooper.

The 29-year-old Wilson has been dominant since entering the league. She won her first MVP trophy in 2020 and her second in 2022.

"By the time it’s all said and done, she will be the greatest to ever do it," Aces head coach Becky Hammon told ESPN. "Four [MVPs] already says she is. In a league that has continued to get much better, she keeps getting better."

This season, Wilson led the league in points (23.4 per game) and blocks (2.3), while also averaging 10.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists. She was also named Co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside Lynx star Alanna Smith.

"You’re watching poetry in motion. You’re watching history," Hammon said. "And she’s just 29 years old. She could win four more of these by the time she is finished."

Wilson is looking to add another WNBA title to her résumé after securing her fourth MVP. The Aces will face the Fever in the playoff semifinals, which begin Sunday.
