Escaped monkeys from Mississippi truck crash puts spotlight on NIH-funded Tulane lab

Three aggressive monkeys still on the loose after a truck hauling 21 of the animals from Tulane University in New Orleans flipped on a Mississippi interstate Tuesday. They are part of a controversial program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the White Coat Waste Project, a nonprofit focused on eliminating wasteful government spending on animal testing.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office, which "eliminated" five of the escaped 40-pound monkeys, initially said the driver of the truck told authorities the primates were dangerous, a threat to humans and required personal protective equipment (PPE) to handle.

The university later confirmed to Fox News Digital the monkeys in question were not carrying any diseases and had received recent checkups at Tulane before they left the facility, confirming they were pathogen-free.

Tulane officials said 13 of the monkeys remained caged during the wreck, which happened north of Heidelberg, and are now in the possession of their owner en route to their intended destination.

FROM ‘HOMICIDE CAPITAL’ TO SAFER STREETS? MEMPHIS AREA SEES POLICING PUSH

The identity of the owner and "original destination" were not released.

"The transport of research animals is a common occurrence and usually requires legally binding contracts that prevent the involved parties from disclosing information, both for the safety of the animals and to protect the parties' proprietary information," the university wrote in a statement.

White Coat Waste Project told Fox News Digital it has been working to cut taxpayer funding for Tulane’s primate lab for years, and right after the crash, followed the monkeys and the money allegedly straight to the NIH.

TRUCK DRIVER ARRESTED ON HOMICIDE CHARGES IN FIERY WRECK THAT KILLED 8 FAMILY MEMBERS

"Every year, the NIH ships $35 million of our hard-earned tax dollars to Tulane so it can breed thousands of primates, torture them in wasteful and abusive experiments, and truck them off to other labs," White Coat Waste Project senior vice president Justin Goodman wrote in a statement. "Nearly 6,000 monkeys are locked up in Tulane’s taxpayer-funded facility where the primates are isolated in tiny cages and infected with some of the deadliest pathogens on earth—like anthrax, botulism, monkeypox, COVID, and AIDS-like viruses."

The organization alleges in a recent experiment at Tulane’s primate center, human nipples were sewn onto male monkeys.

"Despite promising White Coat Waste that he'd end all primate tests, NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya just renewed millions in funding for Tulane's torture lab," Goodman wrote. "We’re urging [Health and Human Services] Secretary [Robert F.] Kennedy to follow the lead of the first Trump administration and shut down government primate labs and retire the survivors to sanctuary. The way to end Tulane’s monkey business is simple: Stop the money. Stop the madness."

EXPLOSION CAUGHT ON CAMERA ROCKS BEACH TOWN AFTER HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER HITS GAS LINE, FIREFIGHTERS INJURED

An HHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital the NIH is currently subject to a court injunction stemming from ongoing litigation related to the previously canceled Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) grants, which prevents the immediate termination of the Tulane grant.

The HHS clarified the grant has not been newly renewed; the spokesperson said what has been described as "renewals" are continuing disbursements under the original grant.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) senior science advisor for primate campaigns Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel called on authorities to demand full necropsies and veterinary records for the monkeys killed in the crash and to make the results public.

"Tulane has locked down information after the crash—refusing to say who owned the monkeys, what they were being used for, or what pathogens they carried. Inside sources have told us the monkeys were actually not headed to Florida," Jones-Engel wrote in a statement Thursday to Fox News Digital. "PETA has requested that local authorities be provided with necropsies and veterinary records, and we are also going to the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)] because this is fundamentally a public health issue."

COLLEGE STUDENT’S PARENTS KILLED, SIBLINGS INJURED IN CRASH ON SCHOOL DROP-OFF TRIP

She alleged Tulane National Primate Research Center’s colony harbors diseases including Chagas, Valley Fever, West Nile virus and diarrheal pathogens, while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is aware imported monkeys have arrived in U.S. primate facilities carrying tuberculosis and Burkholderia pseudomallei.

"Tulane's claim that secrecy protects ‘animal safety’ is obscene," Jones-Engel wrote. "These animals were shot dead. Tulane’s primate center is funded by taxpayers, and transparency is a matter of public health, not proprietary privilege. Passing the buck to highway patrol or state wildlife officers is an outright dodge. Local responders are not equipped to assess zoonotic risks—that responsibility lies with Tulane and with the CDC. By hiding behind contracts and weak paperwork, Tulane is shielding its dangerous primate center and protecting the notorious monkey experimentation industry from scrutiny at the expense of community safety."

Though the university sent a team of animal care experts to assist, officials emphasized the monkeys were not being transported by Tulane, not owned by Tulane, and not in Tulane’s custody at the time of the crash.

PETA wrote a letter to the CDC Friday, requesting the CDC "acknowledge its responsibility, increase transparency, and protect communities from the dangers posed not only by the primate trade but also by the presence of entrenched pathogens in U.S. primate facilities."

The NIH and Kennedy's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.

Deputies said they have been in contact with an animal disposal company to "help handle the situation."

Mississippi Highway Patrol and Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries are investigating, along with local law enforcement.

ICE says suspect accused of killing teen in second drunk driving incident was in US illegally

A suspect facing a DUI manslaughter charge in connection with the tragic death of a 16-year-old in Mobile, Alabama, is in the United States illegally, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE announced that an immigration detainer has been placed on Franklin Oriel Fajardo-Arana. The agency described him as "an illegal alien from Honduras" following his arrest by the Mobile Police Department on Monday.

"ICE remains committed to prioritizing the arrest and removal of criminal illegal aliens who pose threats to public safety," acting ICE New Orleans Field Officer Director Scott Ladwig said in a statement. "This case underscores the critical importance of ICE’s partnerships with local law enforcement agencies to identify and remove individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws and endangered our communities."

ICE said police in Mobile responded to a traffic accident Sunday involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota 4Runner.

PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED HONDURAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHARGED WITH KILLING TEEN WHO REJECTED HIS SEXUAL ADVANCES

"The 4Runner had flipped on its side, and the teen boy — a passenger — was pronounced deceased at the scene. On the same day, ERO New Orleans issued an immigration detainer to the Mobile County Metro Jail, ensuring that Fajardo-Arana will be transferred to ICE custody upon his release," ICE said.

"An investigation revealed that the Fairfield Police Department in Kentucky has an active in-state warrant for Fajardo-Arana for a separate DUI offense," the agency added.

10 ARRESTED IN CALIFORNIA ON CHARGES OF ATTACKING LAW ENFORCEMENT DURING ANTI-ICE RIOTS

The Mobile Police Department did not immediately respond Thursday to a request for comment from Fox News Digital. Fajardo-Arana has been charged with DUI manslaughter, according to ICE.

Ernest Williams, a local barber and witness to the crash, told WALA that he "was just standing outside talking with the other barbers" and "then we heard the crash" and "everything changed in that instant."

"We instantly ran over there to see what was going on," he said to the station. "We got the driver out and pushed the vehicle up to get the victim from under it."

"Now that I know he passed away, it kind of makes it seem like you didn’t do enough," Williams added in reference to the victim. "But we were just there to help however we could."

Cuomo takes swipe at Mamdani in final campaign ad before Election Day

Independent New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo took a swipe at Democratic socialist opponent Zohran Mamdani Wednesday in his final campaign ad released less than a week before Election Day.

"Life in New York is tough right now. Candidates who need on-the-job training can’t fix it," Cuomo said in the video, calling Mamdani’s background into question.

"I see a new day just over the horizon with 5,000 more cops on the beat, the homeless off the streets and 500,000 new affordable homes," Cuomo continued.

The ad ends with a message for New Yorkers to vote for Cuomo on the "Fight and Deliver" party line on Tuesday, Nov. 4. A recent public opinion poll showed Mamdani holding a double-digit lead in the race, although Cuomo is narrowing the gap.

'DEMOCRATS ARE NERVOUS' ABOUT POTENTIAL MAMDANI VICTORY, NEW REPORT SAYS

In an appearance earlier this month on Fox News’ "Sunday Morning Futures," Cuomo described his opponent as a 33-year-old, two-term assemblyman who "passed three bills" and has the "worst attendance record in the legislature."

"Never ran anything. Mayor of New York should not be your first job," Cuomo said of Mamdani. "There’s no time for on-the-job training when any given morning, God forbid, you could have a mass murder or a terrorist attack."

"New Yorkers get that, they know how important the mayor is and how you really need to know what you are doing," he added.

During a debate in mid-October, Cuomo again attacked Mamdani’s thin resume, saying, "He has no experience."

ZOHRAN MAMDANI LANDS LONG-WAITED KEY ENDORSEMENT IN NEW YORK CITY MAYORAL RACE

"He literally has never had a job. On his resume, it says he interned for his mother. This is not a job for a first timer. Any day you could have a hurricane, God forbid, a 9-11, a health pandemic," Cuomo said. "If you don't know what you’re doing, people will die."

Mamdani immediately shot back, "If we have a health pandemic, then why would New Yorkers turn to the governor who sent seniors to their death in nursing homes? That’s the kind of experience that’s on offer here today."

"What I don’t have in experience I make up for in integrity, and what you don’t have in integrity you could never make up for in experience," Mamdani added.

Jennifer Lawrence confesses plans for boob job, facelift as Hollywood plastic surgery trend surges

Jennifer Lawrence isn't afraid to jump on the plastic surgery trend taking over Hollywood.

Lawrence revealed she plans to get a boob job in November, after welcoming two children with husband, Cooke Maroney.

"Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one," the "Hunger Games" star offered during an interview with The New Yorker. "Second one, nothing bounced back."

Lawrence gave birth to her first son in 2021 and her second son in early 2025.

JAMIE LEE CURTIS SAYS PLASTIC SURGERY HAS 'WIPED OUT' NATURAL APPEARANCE IN A GENERATION

The "Silver Linings Playbook" star revealed she has to film a nude scene in spring, and she'll only be one year postpartum. Yet, she still believes she'd be getting a boob job even if she didn't work in Hollywood.

"Maybe I wouldn’t be hustling to the appointment in the same way," she explained. "But I think yes."

Lawrence admitted she does get Botox, but not enough to prohibit her from creating facial expressions with her forehead – a must for her acting job. Another cosmetic trend she stays away from is fillers. Lawrence claimed they show on camera.

The 35-year-old actress also hasn't succumbed to the new facelift trend, but does plan on having one done at some point.

House Republicans accuse Biden's FBI of retaliating against whistleblower who exposed misconduct

FIRST ON FOX: The Biden administration’s FBI used a security-clearance process to potentially retaliate against a whistleblower, and even tried to interrogate his wife while denying her repeated requests for an attorney, according to the House Judiciary Committee.

In a letter signed by Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Jen Kiggans, R-Va., the committee on Monday informed FBI Director Kash Patel that the Biden administration used a security-clearance interview process to skirt whistleblower protections and investigate Special Agent Valentine Fertitta in 2024.

'MOST TRANSPARENT' FBI EVER: PATEL UPDATES SENATE ON KIRK ASSASSINATION PROBE

Fertitta had blown the whistle on the FBI’s misuse of "law-enforcement authorities." After that, his security clearance evaluation process became unusually prolonged. During that time, the FBI made attempts to interrogate his wife, Emily Fertitta, and asked her to participate in a two-day interview.

When Mrs. Fertitta pushed back and asked to have an attorney present, the Department of Justice effectively denied her request.

"Documents available to the Committee show that SecD investigators denied Mrs. Fertitta the right to receive advice from an attorney during her interview and the opportunity to review FBI guidelines regarding the interview process beforehand," the letter states.

HOUSE DEMOCRATS OPEN PROBE INTO FBI'S HANDLING OF EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS

According to the committee, the FBI had told Mrs. Fertitta that "‘policy guides, manuals, and an agenda or outline concerning the interview will not be provided.’"

"‘An attorney may not be able to give you advice during the interview, nor ask any questions or prevent you from answering your questions during the interview. Essentially, he/she will just sit there silently.’"

The demand to interview Mrs. Fertitta goes against the standard process for security clearance evaluations. The agency’s SEAD 4 Guidelines, the procedures that govern the standards, do not allow the agency to deny spousal privilege — a spouse’s legal right to refuse to testify against their partner in criminal cases. It also does not empower the agency to deny a request for an attorney.

KASH PATEL FACES HOUSE GRILLING AFTER TENSE SENATE CLASHES OVER KIRK ASSASSINATION

The committee did not detail in its communications the nature of the behavior Valentine Fertitta had tried to expose in his capacity as a whistleblower.

The Judiciary Committee has requested that the FBI provide any documents related to the FBI’s investigation of the Fertitta family. FBI Director Patel has been directed to provide the committee with its requested documentation no later than Nov. 10, 2025.

Charlie Kirk's suspected assassin will not show face in court, key hearing postponed

Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspected assassin accused of shooting Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk during a campus appearance at Utah Valley University last month, will no longer show his face in a Provo courthouse at a planned in-person hearing later this week.

Robinson is due in court Monday for a virtual appearance where he won't show his face, either, according to court officials. The judge is expected to weigh in on motions to allow him to wear street clothes in court and to bar cameras from the proceedings, but his tentatively scheduled preliminary hearing has been pushed back to January.

Robinson's defense was already expected to ask for more time at the now-canceled Oct. 30 hearing.

WHAT WILL BE TYLER ROBINSON’S DEFENSE STRATEGY? EXPERTS WEIGH IN ON ACCUSED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN

In Utah, preliminary hearings can be delayed for months in cases involving serious felonies, sometimes up to a year, Skye Lazaro, a Salt Lake City-based defense attorney, told Fox News Digital earlier this month.

The hearing gives the defense a chance to cross-examine witnesses and force prosecutors to show evidence in court that establishes probable cause to bring charges in the alleged crime.

CHARLIE KIRK’S ASSASSINATION LEAVES UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AS INVESTIGATORS PIECE TOGETHER GAPS IN CASE

Robinson faces a top charge of aggravated murder, which carries the potential death penalty.

He is accused of climbing onto a campus rooftop with his grandfather's Mauser .30-06 and shooting Kirk once in the neck.

Authorities have previously alleged that they found the suspected murder weapon with his DNA on it and incriminating text messages in which he allegedly admitted to the crime to friends and family.

They also have video from the campus security system that allegedly shows him coming and going before and after the slaying. Additional evidence against him is expected to emerge at the preliminary hearing, once it is held.

Rex Ryan gives tearful reaction to death of Jets legend Nick Mangold: 'Great young man'

The NFL world is in mourning, as New York Jets legendary center Nick Mangold died Saturday night due to complications from kidney disease.

The team’s Ring of Honor member, who spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with New York, was just 41 years old.

Rex Ryan, who coached Mangold for six of those seasons, was heartbroken while serving his duties on ESPN’s "Sunday NFL Countdown."

"It’s brutal. Such a great young man," Ryan, choking back tears, said on the panel.

Mangold was a fan-favorite as well as a beloved member of the Jets in the locker room, respected by his teammates and coaches since he was drafted 29th overall in the 2006 class out of Ohio State.

CHAD 'OCHOCINCO' JOHNSON HEARTBROKEN AFTER MISSING CHANCE TO WISH FORMER TEAMMATE RUDI JOHNSON FINAL FAREWELL

He revealed in a social media post earlier this month that he learned he had a "genetic defect" which led to his kidney disease that year. He had asked his followers for a kidney donor with O-type blood, and was hoping for better days ahead.

"While this has been a tough stretch, I’m staying positive and focused on the path ahead. I’m looking forward to better days and getting back to full strength soon. I’ll see you all at MetLife Stadium & The Shoe very soon," Mangold wrote in his social post.

Ryan said he will never forget the character of his former center.

"I remember it was obvious I was getting fired. My last game, Mangold’s injured, like injured. He comes to me and says, ‘I’m playing this game.’ He wanted to play for me. That’s what I remember about this kid. He was awesome and just way too young. I feel so bad for his wife and family," Ryan said as he was consoled by Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss.

The Jets announced Mangold’s death earlier Sunday morning.

JETS LEGEND NICK MANGOLD ANNOUNCES HE NEEDS KIDNEY TRANSPLANT: 'LOOKING FORWARD TO BETTER DAYS'

"Nick was more than a legendary center," Jets owner Woody Johnson said in a statement. "He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football. Off the field, Nick's wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family.

"Nick Mangold will forever be a Jet."

Mangold made seven Pro Bowls during his time with the Jets, while making back-to-back first-team All-Pros in 2009 and 2010 – the same seasons New York went to the AFC Championship Game.

Mangold, an Ohio native, expressed his love for the Jets last November, where he felt honored to have played for just one franchise.

"Being able to finish out my career here, being able to play for only one team is something really special to me," he said. "It's a great team to be a part of. This fan base is as passionate as they come, loyal as all get-out."

Wild bear makes 'very polite' surprise visit to California zoo before returning to forest

A young American black bear made an unexpected but calm appearance at Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka, California, this week, delighting staff.

NEW YEAR, NEW ADVENTURE AS TRAVELERS CAN SLEEP NEAR WILD ANIMALS WHILE VISITING SAFARI PARK

Zoo officials described the roughly 1.5-year-old bear as "very polite" during its brief visit. The curious newcomer, likely a recently independent cub, climbed a tree near the perimeter fence — a favorite activity for adventurous young bears — and wandered in from the neighboring 67-acre Sequoia Park forest.

Bears are common in the surrounding redwood forest, zoo staff explained to Fox News Digital. "But this is the first to visit our bear family."

BEARS ESCAPE WILDLIFE PARK ENCLOSURE AND FEAST ON WEEK'S WORTH OF HONEY

Once inside, the wild visitor sniffed around, investigated scents from the zoo’s resident bears, and kept a respectful distance.

The encounter remained uneventful: there was no aggression or disruption, and the bear never entered any habitats or public spaces.

MAN DIES IN LIKELY BEAR ATTACK AT ARKANSAS CAMPSITE DAYS AFTER SENDING PHOTOS OF ANIMAL TO FAMILY

When staff opened a gate to offer a safe exit, the young bear simply returned to the forest on its own.

The Sequoia Park Zoo emphasized that the event did not highlight conflict between the wild bears and those in captivity, but rather a peaceful coexistence.

"Our message is all about keeping wild bears wild," the zoo noted. "Encounters like this remind us we share space with incredible wildlife — and that respectful distance helps keep them safe."

No video exists of the wild bear’s visit, though the zoo released two official photos of the friendly visitor.

Fan storms court during NBA game seeking selfie with Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell

An overzealous fan was escorted out by Brooklyn Nets security during Thursday night’s game after storming the court in an attempt to get a selfie with Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell.

The incident unfolded with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, with Cleveland leading the game, 121-115. The fan, wearing a purple sweatshirt, ran onto the court after a whistle and headed straight toward Mitchell with a phone in his hand.

Broadcast cameras caught the NBA player immediately backing up before security quickly grabbed hold of the man.

The game was briefly delayed as the fan was escorted out by security.

After the game, Mitchell revealed what the individual wanted and why he approached him specifically.

"I took a few steps back and then I repositioned my feet, and I was ready to handle whatever was necessary," he said, via CBS Sports. "The kid wanted a selfie. I know he's probably doing some jail time, but when he gets out, he's probably got a great selfie. Sorry, I don't think that's a joke."

NBA COMMISSIONER ADDRESSES GAMBLING SCANDAL FOR THE FIRST TIME

Teammate Jarrett Allen commended Barclays Center security for their quick action.

"At first, I was confused. And I saw him running towards Don and took a step towards him. But they have great security at Barclays Center," he said. "Shoutout to them, they took care of it. When he left the court, his feet didn't touch the ground. They carried him out the building."

The fan’s fate wasn’t immediately clear, but future visits to the Barclays Center might not be in the cards for him.

As for Mitchell and the Cavs, they wrapped up the night with a 131-124 victory over the Nets. Mitchell scored 35 points, and Allen and Sam Merrill added 22 each.

- Federal judges acknowledge court ruling errors tied to staffers’ AI use after Grassley inquiry
- Meta cuts 600 jobs amid AI expansion push — as automation replaces human staff

'CRAZY' CLAIMS: Conservative activist Robby Starbuck spoke out about the "crazy" situation that prompted him to file a lawsuit against Google on Wednesday seeking at least $15 million, alleging the company’s artificial intelligence programs defamed him by falsely portraying him as a "monster" to millions of users.

ROBOT JUSTICE FAIL: Two federal judges admitted that members of their staff used artificial intelligence to prepare court orders over the summer that contained errors.

'TALENTED GROUP': Meta is cutting around 600 jobs within its artificial intelligence unit, a move it says aims to boost efficiency.

SILICON SHOWDOWN: Palantir CEO Alex Karp said his company is in an artificial intelligence arms race with its competitors, after reaching a deal with Lumen Technologies in which Palantir will deploy AI throughout Lumen's digital communications network and enhance data use and effectiveness.

HOMEGROWN POWER: Apple is now building and shipping American-made artificial intelligence servers in the United States — a move that has the technology giant answering President Donald Trump’s call to on shore manufacturing.

HUMANS ONLY: An Ohio lawmaker is taking aim at artificial intelligence in a way few expected. Rep. Thaddeus Claggett has introduced House Bill 469, which would make it illegal for AI systems to be treated like people. The proposal would officially label them as "nonsentient entities," cutting off any path toward legal personhood.

MACHINE AGE: Amazon is not wasting any time on its future ambitions for automation and how artificial intelligence (AI) technology could reshape its workforce.

BEYOND THE GRAVE: Suzanne Somers’ widower Alan Hamel, who shared a demonstration of the AI twin of the actress following her death from breast cancer in 2023 earlier this year, said this week it was originally her idea.

FEARLESS FUTURE: I know that many of you are afraid that AI is going to take your job. And you might be right. The 2025 Global State of AI at Work report just confirmed what we’re all sensing. AI isn’t the future. It is now. But before you panic, let me offer a new way to look at this. Instead of fearing what’s coming, maybe it’s time to think outside the box. Nearly three out of five companies say they’re hiring for AI-related roles this year. And most of these jobs don’t require a computer science degree or even coding skills.

MANNERS VS MACHINE: Do rude prompts really get better answers? Short answer: sometimes. A 2025 arXiv study tested 50 questions rewritten in five tones and found that rude prompts slightly outperformed polite ones with ChatGPT-4o. Accuracy rose from 80.8% for very polite to 84.8% for very rude. The sample was small, yet the pattern was clear.

TRAP SET: A watchdog group in Long Island, New York, used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bust an elementary school music teacher who allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to someone whom he believed was a 13-year-old girl online.

CASH FROM CODE: A Michigan woman’s decision to let artificial intelligence (AI) pick her lottery numbers has paid off in a big way. Tammy Carvey, 45, of Wyandotte, won a Powerball jackpot of $100,000 and says ChatGPT was the secret weapon behind her lucky numbers. She bought her ticket online at MichiganLottery.com for the Sept. 6 drawing, according to the Michigan Lottery.

SECRETS STOLEN: Millions of private messages meant to stay secret are now public. Two AI companion apps, Chattee Chat and GiMe Chat, have exposed more than 43 million intimate messages and over 600,000 images and videos after a major data leak discovered by Cybernews, a leading cybersecurity research group known for uncovering major data breaches and privacy risks worldwide. The exposure revealed just how vulnerable you can be when you trust AI companions with deeply personal interactions.

TECH TURNED WEAPON: Artificial intelligence may be smarter than ever, but that power could be turned against us. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is sounding the alarm, warning that AI systems can be hacked and retrained in ways that make them dangerous.

"Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back."

Winsome Earle-Sears mocks MSNBC panel for suggesting that voting against her opponent is sexist

Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears mocked MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" panelists Wednesday after they suggested that voting against her Democratic opponent, Abigail Spanberger, was sexist.

Co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Jonathan Lemire, along with liberal commentator Molly Jong-Fast, complained that Spanberger and New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, were not running away with their races and blamed sexism in America.

Earle-Sears, Virginia's lieutenant governor and Spanberger's Republican opponent, replied to the segment, asking, "Who wants to tell them?" — referring to the fact that either woman would become the commonwealth’s first female governor if elected.

ACTOR JEFF BRIDGES TELLS ICE TO GET 'OFF OUR STREETS' AS 'THE DUDE' CHARACTER ON 'JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!'

In the segment, Brzezinski emphasized how important electing Spanberger and other female Democratic candidates was to the party and to the country.

"It really is incredible when you have Abigail Spanberger, Mike Sherrill — her background, all the different jobs that she has held in the military. And also, like Elissa Slotkin, I mean, my God, these women are incredible," she said.

"And to them, I would say, fight, fight, fight, because we need them. We need them," Brzezinski added.

SINGER KENNY LOGGINS DENOUNCES TRUMP'S 'NO KINGS' POST USING HIS ICONIC 'TOP GUN' SONG

Jong-Fast noted that Sherrill has been campaigning hard in her race against former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli for New Jersey governor but appeared anxious about the outcome.

Lemire said that although both candidates are leading in their respective polls, their races remain competitive.

"Yeah, Sherrill did have a few missteps in her campaign, but she still has, as you say, a five- or six-point lead per polling. Spanberger’s leading Virginia a little bigger than that. But you know, both still competitive races here heading into the last couple of weeks," Lemire said.

Lemire suggested that part of the challenge may stem from the country’s lingering misogyny.

"But to Mika and to Molly’s point, I mean, this is something that a lot of Democrats are grappling with right now," Lemire continued. "They’ve nominated women two of the last three elections for the presidency — lost both. There are some who say, ‘Well, we can’t do that again. The stakes are too high.’ But, of course, that does fall into the same misogynistic trap."

US carries out 8th strike on alleged drug vessel, this time in Eastern Pacific, Hegseth says

The U.S. military carried out another strike on a suspected drug vessel, this time in the Eastern Pacific, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday.

The strike Tuesday against a boat allegedly carrying drugs is the eighth conducted by the Trump administration. The previous seven happened in the Caribbean.

"Yesterday, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel being operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization and conducting narco-trafficking in the Eastern Pacific. The vessel was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking transit route, and carrying narcotics," Hegseth said.

"There were two narco-terrorists aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters. Both terrorists were killed and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike," he added.

3 KILLED IN US STRIKE ON COLOMBIAN ELN VESSEL SMUGGLING NARCOTICS, HEGSETH SAYS

Earlier this week, Hegseth announced that three alleged narco-terrorists were killed in a U.S. strike on a drug smuggling vessel affiliated with Colombia’s National Liberation Army.

That "lethal kinetic strike" happened Friday in international waters at the direction of President Donald Trump, Hegseth wrote in a post on X.

"The vessel was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was traveling along a known narco-trafficking route, and was transporting substantial amounts of narcotics," Hegseth wrote. "There were three male narco-terrorists aboard the vessel during the strike—which was conducted in international waters."

"All three terrorists were killed and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike," he added.

Colombia’s Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) is a designated terrorist organization. Hegseth likened the Colombian rebel group to the al Qaeda terror group founded by Usama bin Laden in Afghanistan.

TRUMP GOES ALL-OUT AGAINST COLOMBIA'S PETRO AFTER CLAIMS DRUG STRIKE KILLED FISHERMAN: WHAT WE KNOW

The death toll from the Trump administration’s military campaign against suspected drug-smuggling vessels is at least 34. The operations began last month and are part of Trump’s broader effort to dismantle transnational cartels by force.

Last Thursday, the U.S. military carried out a strike on what Trump later called a "very large drug-carrying submarine" in the Caribbean, killing two suspected narco-terrorists and capturing two others alive.

A separate strike on Tuesday killed six suspected smugglers aboard a vessel off the coast of Venezuela.

Dublin protesters clash with police, burn vehicle after migrant accused of sexually assaulting Irish girl

Protesters set a police car on fire and hurled glass bottles at officers in Dublin, Ireland, on Tuesday night after an illegal migrant was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old Irish girl who was in state care.

The violence erupted outside the City West Hotel, a sprawling former hotel-turned migrant center where an illegal migrant — who had deportation orders standing against him — is accused of attacking the girl late Sunday night.

Irish police, An Garda Síochána, said that six people were arrested during the clashes and one female police officer suffered a foot injury.

HERE'S WHY IRELAND IS AT BOILING POINT OVER MASS IMMIGRATION

Police said their officers were subject to "sustained attacks" as they tried to cordon off the building. Nearly 300 police were dispatched to the area in Saggart.

Some protesters were seen waving Irish flags while others could be heard chanting, "Get them out, get them out," in reference to the 2,000 migrants living at the shelter.

Police said protesters hurled hundreds of empty glass bottles from nearby garbage containers and bricks at officers, while fireworks were also discharged. A police helicopter was targeted with lasers, a spokesperson said.

Men on horseback attempted to breach police lines by charging at law enforcement, police said. Police used pepper spray as they tried to disperse the crowd.

"An Garda Síochána facilitates peaceful protests on a daily basis. This was obviously not a peaceful protest," Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly said in a statement. "The actions this evening can only be described as thuggery. This was a mob intent on violence against Gardaí."

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin condemned the attacks on police and said there was "no justification for the vile abuse against them."

On Wednesday, he said the girl who was allegedly raped had not been protected by the state and the circumstances around the alleged attack are of "deep concern."

THOUSANDS MARCH IN DUBLIN AGAINST IRELAND'S MASS MIGRATION POLICIES AS MCGREGOR PURSUES PRESIDENTIAL BID

The victim was in the care of child protection services, known as "Tusla," which said she had absconded from staff during a planned recreational trip in the city center. It is unclear how she got in contact with the suspect.

The suspect, who is in his 20s, is originally from Africa, according to the Irish Mirror. He arrived in Ireland six years ago and failed his application for international protection in 2024 and was ordered deported in March, according to the Irish Times.

The incident took place on the grounds of Citywest, a former hotel which for the last few years has been housing migrants seeking international protection.

The Irish government bought the hotel in September for around $150 million with the aim of turning it into a permanent migrant facility despite several protests by locals.

Tensions around mass immigration continue to bubble since November 2023 when hundreds of rioters looted shops, set fire to vehicles and threw rocks at police officers after three young children were stabbed outside a school allegedly by an Algerian-born suspect who had become an Irish citizen.

Last week, a 17-year-old Ukrainian was murdered just days after he came to Ireland and was placed in asylum care operated by Tusla. A Somalian youth, also an asylum seeker and described as a minor, has been charged with his murder, according to RTE News.

A homeless foreign national was arrested and charged last week with the murder of an 89-year-old Irish woman, per the Irish Independent.

On Friday, Irish people go to the polls to elect a new president.

'No plans' for Trump-Putin meeting 'in the near future,' senior official says

President Donald Trump has no plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a senior White House official told Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

News that the meeting will not happen comes just days after Trump had said he planned to meet with Putin in Budapest, Hungary in the coming weeks. Prior to that meeting, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov this week.

"Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Lavrov had a productive call. Therefore, an additional in-person meeting between the Secretary and Foreign Minister is not necessary, and there are no plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future," the official said.

Trump had indicated the Rubio-Lavrov meeting would be the stepping stone toward a top-level meeting.

TRUMP THREATENS TO 'SPEAK' WITH PUTIN ON GIVING UKRAINE TOMAHAWK MISSILES AS RUSSIA HITS HOSPITAL

"President Putin and I will then meet in an agreed-upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this ‘inglorious’ war, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end," he wrote on X. "President Zelenskyy and I will be meeting tomorrow, in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more. I believe great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation."

KREMLIN WARNS IT 'COULD END BADLY FOR EVERYONE' IF US SUPPLIES UKRAINE LONG-RANGE MISSILES

Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House last week. The wartime leader asked Trump to supply Tomahawk missiles and other top-level defense weapons to Ukraine.

Acquiring Tomahawk missiles is a top priority for Zelenskyy, as the sophisticated weaponry would be able to reach far beyond Moscow and could change Ukraine’s ability to hit not only more of Russia’s military complex but its oil industry, which largely funds its war chest.

Trump made no mention of offering the weapons to Zelenskyy following their meeting, however.

Trump remains committed to securing peace in Ukraine. During a Tuesday lunch at the White House with Republican lawmakers, he emphasized that he had won peace in eight conflicts since taking office.

"We're working on number nine," he said.

Karoline Leavitt goes scorched earth on HuffPost reporter, says stop texting 'bulls---' questions

Tensions escalated between Karoline Leavitt and Huffington Post journalist S.V. Dáte as the White House press secretary called the correspondent a "left-wing hack" on Monday following his article poking at her snarky response to a new inquiry.

Leavitt, who took to X to address the "wild" article, wrote, "S.V. Dáte of the Huffington Post is not a journalist interested in the facts. He is a left-wing hack who has consistently attacked President Trump for years and constantly bombards my phone with Democrat talking points."

She went on to share screenshots of messages between her and Dáte, citing, "Activists who masquerade as real reporters do a disservice to the profession."

EXCLUSIVE: KAROLINE LEAVITT SLAMS HAKEEM JEFFRIES AS 'STONE-COLD LOSER' AFTER HE ATTACKS HER AS 'DEMENTED'

The question concerned President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming meeting in Budapest.

The text chain began with Dáte writing, "Is the president aware of the significance of Budapest? In 1994, Russia promised, in Budapest, not to invade Ukraine if it gave up the nuclear weapons it inherited when the Soviet Union dissolved. Does he not see why Ukraine might object to that site? Who suggested Budapest?"

Leavitt responded, "Your mom did."

Dáte went on to ask if the prospect of his question was "funny" to Leavitt. She replied, "Stop texting me your disingenuous, biased, and bulls--- questions."

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE WRITES SHE COULDN'T 'STOMACH' BEING A DEMOCRAT ANYMORE AFTER PARTY'S TREATMENT OF BIDEN

Leavitt went on to use his profile as proof of her claims, stating that his feed "reads like an anti-Trump personal diary."

The reporter does not trouble to hide his disdain for the White House. His biography on the site says his latest book "captures Trump's failed management of the coronavirus pandemic and his corruption of the Republican Party," and he often attacks the Trump administration on social media.

Dáte’s article went on to sarcastically detail that HuffPost was now "devastated" following Leavitt’s response, citing that the news outlet now feels "fearful of asking any more questions." He also called the "your mom" responses "your tax dollars at work."

CHERYL HINES REFUSED RFK JR'S OFFER TO FAKE SEPARATION DURING HEATED PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

An additional user labeled Dáte as "biased," sharing a screenshot of a post he made in 2023 which read, "As a journalist, it's not my job to tell you who to vote for. As a journalist, it IS my job to warn you that if we vote Donald Trump back into office, it may be the last vote we ever cast."

The prime minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, will host the upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin in Budapest.

Chiefs' Rashee Rice scores first TD in return from suspension

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice got into the end zone early on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders as he appeared in his first NFL game after being suspended.

Rice caught a shovel pass from Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs’ first drive of their Week 7 matchup. It was a 2-yard score as Kansas City took a 7-0 lead.

The third-year wide receiver served a six-game suspension over his role in a traffic collision in Dallas in 2024. He pleaded guilty to two felony charges in the wreck, including "collision involving serious bodily injury" and "racing on a highway causing bodily injury."

Officials in Dallas said Rice paid more than $115,000 in restitution to the victims, and his 30-day jail sentence can be served at any point during his five years of probation.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPION BRANDON GRAHAM CONSIDERING EAGLES RETURN AFTER RETIRING: REPORTS

Rice also suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 last year when he collided with Mahomes following an interception. He was able to recover and take part in training camp but once the season began, he remained away from the team as part of the punishment he agreed to when the suspension was handed down.

He said earlier in the week he was very much looking forward to his first game in more than a year.

"I've been looking forward to this, I think it's been 380-something days since I have played in a regular-season game," he said.

Rice had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie year in 2023. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl that season.

Blue Jays manager calls out Mariners fans who booed All-Star George Springer after getting hit by pitch

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider ripped Seattle Mariners fans after they appeared to boo loudly when four-time All-Star George Springer went down in the seventh inning after being hit on the knee by a pitch.

Speaking to reporters after allowing the Mariners to take a 3-1 lead in the American League Championship Series, Schneider called out what he described as poor sportsmanship from the Seattle crowd.

"I know this is an awesome atmosphere to play in," he said. "And it’s really, really cool to play here, and I think the fans that were booing him should take a look in the mirror and understand what kind of player he is."

"I’ll stop there, because when a guy gets hit in the knee and is in obvious pain and you have 40,000 people cheering, not the right thing to do," Schneider continued.

Springer was struck on the right kneecap off a pitch from right-hander Bryan Woo with the Blue Jays leading 2-1 late in the game. Springer fell to the ground in pain and was eventually helped off the field, limping.

BLUE JAYS' MAX SCHERZER REFUSES TO LEAVE MOUND IN HEATED EXCHANGE WITH MANAGER IN GAME 4 WIN

That’s when the boos roared.

"I don’t know how you boo somebody who’s down on the ground hurt," Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement said "I don’t understand that. I’ve had a lot of respect for all of the Mariners fans, especially the ones that I’ve kind of talked to throughout the series, they’ve been awesome. But that’s a tough moment. That’s pretty classless."

Springer has been a dominant presence in the Blue Jays' attempt to reach the World Series for the first time since 1993. His run-scoring double in the fifth gave him six straight games with an extra-base hit. The 36-year-old is hitting .256 with three home runs and five doubles this postseason.

Alex Murdaugh’s double life: How greed and corruption brought down Lowcountry legal empire

The rise and fall of disgraced South Carolina legal scion Alex Murdaugh continues to captivate the country years after his double murder conviction, in a case that uncovered decades of deceit, greed and power.

The story of the Murdaugh family’s downfall is being retold in Hulu’s new limited series, "Murdaugh: Death in the Family," an eight-part dramatization of one of the most infamous true-crime stories in recent history.

On June 7, 2021, Murdaugh called 911 to report that he had found his wife, Maggie, and youngest son, Paul, shot to death in an apparent homicide on the family’s sprawling Lowcountry estate.

ALEX MURDAUGH’S MONEY MAN PAYS THE PRICE AFTER ADMITTING ROLE IN MILLION-DOLLAR CRIME SCHEME

The phone call ignited a shocking chain of events that ultimately uncovered Murdaugh’s long history of lies and deceit, culminating in him murdering his wife and son.

"I think it’s oftentimes hard for people to compartmentalize what we think and the person we think we knew," Mark Tinsley, an attorney who testified in the criminal case against Murdaugh, told Fox News Digital. "I think there’s probably a group of people that still find it hard to believe that the facade that they saw wasn’t real."

Murdaugh hailed from one of the most prolific legal families in South Carolina, making him a powerful figure in local politics leveraged by name-recognition.

'UNTOUCHABLE' ALEX MURDAUGH COMPARED TO TED BUNDY FOR INDIGNANCE AT FAMILY MURDER SENTENCING

However, his family was not without controversy.

In 2018, the family’s longtime housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, mysteriously fell to her death at the Murdaughs' home.

Three years later, Paul, who was 19 at the time, boarded his family’s boat with a group of friends for a night of drinking on the water. Hours later, the vessel careened into a nearby bridge, ejecting 19-year-old Mallory Beach into the dark water.

ALEX MURDAUGH APPEAL CHALLENGING MURDER CONVICTIONS FACES STATE PUSHBACK OVER JURY INFLUENCE CLAIMS

Beach’s body was found days later, with the family ultimately filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the Murdaughs. Following intense public pressure, Paul was hit with state charges in connection with Beach’s death.

Two years later, on the night of Maggie and Paul’s murders, investigators responded to Murdaugh’s 911 call from the family’s home in Colleton County. The bodies of both mother and son were found near the dog kennels in the backyard of the estate, where they were pronounced dead at the scene.

While Murdaugh initially told authorities he was not present at the kennels that night, a Snapchat video recorded by Paul confirmed his father was at the scene of the crime inside the time frame when investigators believed the pair were killed.

ELIZABETH BANKS TAKES ON KAREN READ ROLE, JOINING DENNIS QUAID AND PATRICIA ARQUETTE IN TRUE CRIME REALM

In September 2021, Murdaugh attempted to stage his own shooting in an effort to award Buster, his surviving son, a $10 million life insurance payment. The plot failed when Curtis Edward Smith grazed Murdaugh’s head with a bullet.

However, it was Satterfield’s death that ultimately led investigators to discover Murdaugh’s web of lies, after it became known that he had stolen $4.3 million in insurance settlement funds meant to be awarded to her grieving family.

"I knew that he had done some things that were not necessarily above board in the way [the Satterfield case] was handled," Tinsley said. "But it turned out it was a lot worse than what I had thought it was. By the time of the roadside shooting, I knew the full scope of what had happened, and there was a lot there."

CULT LEADER CHARLES MANSON CONFESSED TO ADDITIONAL MURDERS IN NEWLY REVEALED PHONE CALL

One month later, Murdaugh was arrested on charges stemming from defrauding the Satterfield family while at a drug rehab facility in Orlando, Florida, according to The Associated Press. Shortly after, prosecutors announced 27 new charges against Murdaugh, alleging that he stole nearly $5 million from multiple victims.

In the months leading up to Murdaugh’s indictment for the killings of his wife and son, prosecutors amassed dozens of charges alleging the disgraced attorney stole millions of dollars from clients and victims’ families to maintain his painkiller pill addiction.

He was charged with the deaths of Maggie and Paul on July 14, 2022, sparking a months-long trial that ended with a guilty verdict.

Murdaugh was sentenced in 2023 to two consecutive life sentences for murdering his wife and son. He is also serving an additional 40 years in prison for his financial crimes and remains in custody at a maximum security prison in South Carolina – marking the end of a legal dynasty that ruled over the Lowcountry for decades.

Murdaugh's attorney, the prosecution and Hulu did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

"I think that overall, most people get it," Tinsley told Fox News Digital. "Most people understand, and most people see through his web of lies and deception."

LIZ PEEK: Curtis and the Comrade — Why Sliwa must step aside to save New York

The only people who could possibly have enjoyed watching the first New York City mayoral candidate debate are Florida real estate brokers. They know more transplants will be coming their way.

For New Yorkers, the encounter reinforced what many of us had already concluded: the only person with a deep knowledge of New York City who backs reasonable policies on policing, transportation, and expanding vocational schools is Republican Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa — who has approximately zero chance of winning. For the sake of the city, to which he has dedicated his life, Sliwa should drop out of the race. Now.

Otherwise, the contest comes down to a choice between bad and terrible, or maybe, to quote Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, "normal and crazy."

MAMDANI CLASHES WITH RIVALS IN FIERY DEBATE LESS THAN THREE WEEKS BEFORE NYC CHOOSES NEXT MAYOR

Here are my five major takeaways from the debate:

1. It was a terrible debate.

The moderators spent more time interrupting the speakers than the candidates spent talking. They appeared especially eager to gang up on former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Poor Curtis Sliwa was all but ignored; I get it — the attention was on the two leading candidates, but it was disrespectful in the extreme.

2. State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialist who won the Democrat primary and has consistently led in the polls, was slick as hair oil.

He bobbed and weaved, as he has throughout the campaign. Mamdani also smirked and punctuated every comment with his trademark grin; for someone just 33-years-old who, as Andrew Cuomo pointed out, has never held a real job, he really is much too pleased with himself.

He ducked important questions and backtracked on former statements and equivocations, like whether he will stand up for Israel’s right to survive (he still claims the Jewish state has committed genocide in Gaza) and whether he will renounce Hamas. He finally agreed that the violent Hamas thugs should lay down their weapons, but it did not come easily.

MAMDANI RIPPED BY RIVALS FOR UNPOPULAR STANCE DURING FIERY NYC DEBATE: 'YOU WON'T SUPPORT ISRAEL'

He denied advocating for the legalization of prostitution, which angered the Muslim community, now arguing instead for decriminalizing the sex trade. Perhaps even more important to New Yorkers, when asked how he would pay for all the freebies he’s promised voters, he offered canned answers about making the rich pay more but was not convincing.

3. Andrew Cuomo, former New York governor and the only choice for those who see through Mamdani’s web of deception, brought some energy to the debate, which he had failed to do during the primary campaign.

He was better prepared, but still not ready to respond with the kinds of polished soundbites that Mamdani has mastered. The young Democratic Socialist spent much of the evening attacking Cuomo — as did Sliwa. That undermined his ability to project a can-do, intelligent agenda for the city.

TOP 5 MOMENTS FROM FIERY NYC MAYORAL DEBATE: 'HE LITERALLY HAS NEVER HAD A JOB'

Still, Cuomo landed some zingers which should resonate with voters, such as when he rightly said that being mayor of the citadel of capitalism is no place for on-the-job training.

4. Republican Curtis Sliwa, who is by all measures a well-meaning and decent man, apparently missed the memo that Cuomo is the only realistic alternative to Mamdani.

He spent much too much time attacking the former governor, when he should have been blistering Mamdani for his naivete and inexperience. His deep involvement with New York’s law enforcement over the years gives Sliwa credibility.

He gave an excellent answer when asked how he would handle the complexity of running a huge city, saying that he would hire experienced and knowledgeable people to do that. That, by the way, is key to anyone who has succeeded in this incredibly tough job.

Sliwa’s worst moment was when he named George Pataki as his favorite president. He clearly had not heard the question, but it was embarrassing.

5. The unhappiest person in New York this morning is Gov. Kathy Hochul.

When asked to raise their hands to show their support for the governor, not one of the candidates obliged. It was mortifying, especially since Hochul went out on a limb recently to endorse Mamdani. She evidently did not demand that he endorse her in return. Talk about a rookie mistake!

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

New Yorkers face a choice: elect Zohran Mamdani, who has no credentials, to take over management of a city with 300,000 employees and a budget of $115 billion, or choose Andrew Cuomo, a much flawed but experienced alternative.

Voters jumping aboard the Mamdani train should recognize the extreme risk that his promises to raise taxes and promote anti-business measures such as rent freezes will accelerate the exodus of businesses and residents leaving New York. His anti-Israel rhetoric and barely disguised antisemitism should also alarm New Yorkers.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. New Yorkers elected Bill de Blasio, a progressive leftist, and immediately experienced a massive decline in quality of life — with dirtier streets, rising crime, and a steady outflow of residents and businesses. Electing Mamdani promises more of the same.

There is still a chance that a larger-than-expected voter turnout could topple Mamdani’s lead. Bill de Blasio was elected to his second term by 8.5% of New Yorkers; surely the people living in this great city can do better than that.

But, to facilitate a win by Cuomo, Sliwa must bow out. It’s not too late.

Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno will take a brief leave of absence to be with his family as his daughter undergoes heart surgery, the team announced Wednesday.

Foligno, in his third season with the Original Six franchise, will be with his 12-year-old daughter, Milana, as she undergoes a "follow-up surgery." It was not immediately clear when the NHL veteran is expected to return.
