SNL Biden impersonator Dana Carvey knew former president was 'compromised mentally'

Comedian Dana Carvey, who played former President Biden during the last season of "Saturday Night Live," said last week that he knew the former president was "compromised mentally" while doing his portrayal.

"I knew that he was compromised mentally. I mean, it was obvious to me, but it was a delicate thing in the comedy world. There were a lot of people [who] did not want to do anything that would kind of ding him in like an awkward way," Carvey said during his "Fly on the Wall" podcast last week.

Carvey played Biden on SNL throughout the 2024-2025 season, often mocking the president and his administration, and receiving plaudits for his portrayal of the president as confused and forgetful.

"If I can do Biden, if I can make Biden funny to everybody, then, then I am where I want to be. And then to make it funny, it had to be recognizable. And so there’s certain things I did not include in my package," Carvey told co-host David Spade and guest Julie Bowen, in a clip flagged by Mediaite.

JON STEWART, 'POD SAVE AMERICA' QUESTION BIDEN'S HEALTH IN WAKE OF 'ORIGINAL SIN' BOOK

He repeated a phrase he used while playing Biden and said, "I'm not kidding around here, I'm being serious."

"I think it’s easier to make fun of him if he’s the president. If it’s just a 90-whatever-year-old man, just go look at this a------. So once he’s president then he’s more fair game to say, but no one made fun of him forever," Spade added.

Bowen, known for her role on ABC's "Modern Family," applauded Carvey's Biden impressions as he discussed how he went about portraying the former president.

"And then the defiant, 50s guy. 'There's no crisis at the border,' yeah, but you said, 'Yeah, you got to get your facts right, Jack, I'll beat the hell out of you, you want to do some push-ups, you dog-faced pony soldier," Carvey joked, repeating several famous phrases the former president used.

CHAPPELLE EXPLAINS WHY HE SAID HE'D GIVE TRUMP A CHANCE DURING HIS 2016 'SNL' MONOLOGUE

Carvey said playing Biden was his favorite because he "had like 10 hooks."

The comedian and impressionist also played George H.W. Bush and Ross Perot on "Saturday Night Live," among numerous other roles.

Carvey said during the podcast that one of Biden's staffers came to one of the shows and said he loved the impressions.

The staffer said Carvey should come have lunch at the White House, but the comedian said it never happened.

GOP Rep McCaul urges Trump admin to prioritize 'aggravated felons' when detaining illegal immigrants

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said Sunday that President Donald Trump's administration should prioritize detaining illegal immigrants who are "aggravated felons," while defending the government's efforts to restore "sanity" to that aspect of homeland security.

On "Face the Nation," CBS anchor Margaret Brennan quoted a report from The Independent stating 47 percent of the 59,000 detained migrants in the U.S. didn't have a criminal record, and fewer than 30 percent had been convicted of crimes.

"These aren't the worst of the worst," she said.

IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES HIGHLIGHT CRIMINAL HISTORY OF MULTIPLE MIGRANTS ARRESTED IN LOS ANGELES

"I was a federal prosecutor for many years, counterterrorism. You have to prioritize, right?" McCaul said. "I would prioritize the aggravated felons that [Biden DHS Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas let in, in defiance of federal law. It was ‘shall detain.’ He said, ‘may detain,’ and let them out into the streets. I would prioritize that first."

"So you would prefer that Homeland Security prioritize them and not run up the numbers the way they are in this [way] that I described?" Brennan asked.

"Well, I think they're running the numbers up because 15 to 20 million people came in under the Biden administration, and they’re trying to get some sanity involved in the United States," McCaul said. "And I think deterrence is the key here. And Margaret, it is working. You know, the apprehension rate at the border, and Texas is the biggest one, has gone down to almost zero."

LIZ PEEK: DEMOCRATS' BIZARRE AFFECTION FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

The border is just about secure, McFaul said, pointing to the end of "catch and release" with the return of Trump to power.

The Trump administration has pushed back against and lashed out at the media over the notion that most of the illegal immigrants who've been arrested this year haven't been convicted or charged with a crime.

"Under the Trump Administration, 70% of illegal aliens arrested have been convicted or charged with a crime beyond illegally entering our country," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said this week in a release about DHS operations capturing illegal immigrants in Los Angeles. "As bad faith politicians attempt to demean and vilify our brave law enforcement, we will only double down and ramp up our enforcement actions against the worst of the worst criminals."

Fever's Sophie Cunningham drops 'no one likes us' take as Indiana deals with adversity

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham made a passionate statement about the state of the team as it deals with Caitlin Clark’s injuries and tries to keep the season from spiraling.

Cunningham spoke to reporters about being the team that everyone in the league has circled on their calendars before their win over the Dallas Wings on Friday.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

It was the second night of a back-to-back as they came off of a loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.

"I think so far this season, we’ve had a lot of distractions. Some injuries. Don’t know who’s playing. Just a lot of distractions. But I think that’s really good for us," she said, via the Indy Star. "Let’s go through the adversity early. Let’s learn from it. Good news is we’re not going to peak too early, so I mean, that’s a positive. It’s not an excuse. Everyone’s playing a back-to-back. Everyone has this kind of rough schedule. For us, we get another opportunity tomorrow, and we’ve got to capitalize on it. Dallas is a team that’s hungry for a win.

"We’ve talked about this, we’re circled on everybody’s schedule. No one likes us, right? So, everyone in our locker room? That’s the only type of people that we have that we can lean on. We’ve got to be better in that area. We have got to stay disciplined, we have to stay focused, we need to get consistent and we’ve got to lean on each other. I think that we’ve kind of wavered a little bit on that. We have our own islands."

WNBA ROOKIE PAIGE BUECKERS SAYS MEDIA 'TRIES TO ISOLATE' IN RESPONSE TO PAST COMMENTS ABOUT BLACK WOMEN

Cunningham added that the tough schedule was "just an excuse" and that she had to do a better job for her teammates.

She then had five points and four assists on Friday as the Fever defeated the Wings, 94-86.

The WNBA schedule has become a tension point with some players.

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart spoke about the problems of a 44-game schedule earlier this month.

"We want to play the games, especially if that’s what is wanted for TV and having these sellout arenas," she said. "I think the hardest part is no matter what, when I was playing 36 games or 32 games, it was in the same amount of time as 44 games.

"I know on both ends between April and October there’s things happening. But I think that’s one of the biggest talking points in the next CBA is like, alright, how can we make it so teams aren’t playing four (games) in six (days) three times in a season and continuing to have the rest and recovery so we are at our best. It’s tough, it’s a tough thing."

Billionaire's death after swallowing bee raises questions about rare cardiac reaction

On June 12, a prominent billionaire from India, Sunjay Kapur, died suddenly at the age of 53 in Windsor, England, according to multiple reports.

Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, an Indian automotive components manufacturer.

His close friend, business consultant Suhel Seth, confirmed Kapur's death in a post on X that same day.

MAN’S BLOOD USED TO CREATE ANTIVENOM FOR 19 DEADLY SNAKES

"Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar …Om Shanti," Seth wrote.

In the following days, it was revealed that Kapur died while playing polo. Multiple outlets reported that he collapsed after swallowing a bee mid-match, potentially triggering a fatal heart attack.

No official source for the billionaire confirmed that a bee caused the heart attack. Fox News Digital reached out to Sona Comstar for comment.

"It’s not possible to comment with any specificity about this particular case without a thorough review of the forensics," Dr. Nishant Kalra, an Ohio cardiologist and regional chief medical officer at VitalSolution — an Ingenovis Health company that offers cardiovascular and anesthesiology services to hospitals — told Fox News Digital.

POISON FRUIT IN 'WHITE LOTUS' COMES FROM 'SUICIDE TREE'

Swallowing a bee can, in very rare cases, precipitate a heart attack, he confirmed — "but only through specific mechanisms."

The primary risk is not from the act of swallowing itself, but from the possibility of a bee sting to either the upper airway or the oropharynx (the part of the mouth that includes the back of the tongue, tonsils and soft palate), which can introduce venom into the body, according to Kalra.

If the individual is allergic, this can trigger anaphylaxis, which may cause "profound hypotension, arrhythmias or even acute coronary syndromes," Kalra said — a phenomenon known as Kounis syndrome.

This syndrome can result from a coronary event (any adverse medical event related to the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart) occurring in combination with anaphylactic or allergic reactions

This can pose a risk even to individuals who do not have pre-existing coronary artery disease.

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology notes that cardiac anaphylaxis can cause reduced blood flow to the heart (myocardial ischemia) and irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) when triggered by an allergy to insect venom.

However, these cases are incredibly rare, according to experts.

"The general population should not be concerned about this as a common risk," Kapur told Fox News Digital. "Fatal cardiac events following bee stings are rare and typically occur in individuals with known venom hypersensitivity or underlying cardiac disease."

For more Health articles, visit www.foxnews.com/health

Most bee stings, even in the oropharynx, result in local reactions, though airway compromise is a concern if significant swelling occurs, he added.

Those who experience allergic symptoms following a sting should seek immediate medical attention.

DAVID MARCUS: Dems' Kennedy Center gay ‘Guerrilla Theater’ stunt is why their act wears thin

I’m sorry to report that the theater kids in the Democrat Party are at it again, this time quite literally and in Washington’s jewel of the performing arts, the Kennedy Center.

On Monday night, Sen. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., put on the "Love is Love" concert co-hosted by Democrat Sens. Tammy Baldwin , of Wisconsin; Jacky Rosen, of Nevada; Brian Schatz, of Hawaii; and Elizabeth Warren, of Massachusetts, as an affair to protest what they claim is anti-LGBT bias at the arts center.

DEMOCRATIC SENATORS HOST PRIDE CONCERT AT KENNEDY CENTER TO PROTEST TRUMP TAKEOVER

The show, featuring Broadway stars and a gay men’s chorus in the 144-seat Justice Forum was invitation only, and no, you were not invited.

It turns out Hickenlooper had reached out to Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller, to co-produce the show, the same Seller behind the hit musical "Hamilton," and who recently canceled a production at the Kennedy Center, along with the show’s creator Lin Manuel-Miranda, also in protest against alleged anti-gay bias.

The senators used a little-known provision that allows them to rent space at the Kennedy Center as a perk of the job. Who knew?

Setting aside the fact that the merits of the claim that the Kennedy Center has somehow become anti-gay fall somewhere between wet tissue paper flimsy and non-existent, the form of this protest by powerful Democrats warrants some scrutiny, and can tell us a lot.

According to The New York Times, Hickenlooper reached out to Seller and asked if he wanted to make some "guerrilla theater," which, for anyone who knows anything about theater, is absolutely hilarious.

Guerrilla theater, often associated with the Living Theater founded in 1947, is when a company just takes over a space and starts putting on a show. In the 1980s, they used to have stage lights they could plug into municipal light poles, for example.

What guerrilla theater is definitively and unquestionably not, is 5 of the most powerful human beings on earth asking a super-rich Broadway producer to put on a concert in one of the most venerated performance spaces in America that they can rent by Congressional prerogative.

That is, in fact, the perfect polar opposite of guerrilla theater.

This confusion by Hickenlooper and Seller is an incredibly illuminating window into the current mindset of the far-left elites in the Democrat Party and their cultural wingmen. They think they are being raw and edgy, when actually, they just look ridiculous.

We see this performative nonsense everywhere from Democrats, whether in Corey Booker’s farcical filibuster, Rep. Eric Swalwell’s cringeworthy TikTok skits, or elected officials getting themselves arrested on purpose for eager cameras.

They think all of these things, like their "guerilla theater," are provocative and brave, a counter-culture that stands up to Trump and all his alleged crimes.

What these prancing Democrats fail to understand is just how inauthentic their antics are to the everyday Americans who can see through them like Superman checking what's in the fridge without opening the door.

Democrats and their advisers have lost sight of the difference between symbolism and reality, Booker wasn’t filibustering any real bill, members of Congress aren’t really being arrested in any meaningful way, and 5 senators sure as hell did not really "occupy" the Kennedy Center.

Everybody knows it's all for show, because they have seen the show before.

Hickenlooper and Seller thought they were speaking their truth to the power of Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell, a gay man who they absurdly accuse of anti-gay bias because he wants the institution he leads to focus on artistic excellence instead of identity grievance.

In fact, it is Grennell and the new board of directors at the Kennedy Center who are pushing back against decades of hegemonic left-wing power in arts and culture, and at the slightest threat to its power, the political and artistic left has thrown a hissy fit.

Americans don’t need guerrilla theater from our elected officials, especially those who have no idea what guerrilla theater actually is.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Democrats need to wake up to the fact that just doing one more performative stunt isn’t going to convince Americans they are living in a fascist dictatorship and should come running back to their party.

While Republicans are tackling the budget and the border, the Democrats are making sure that gay people aren’t underrepresented in theater, which is like making sure that guys named "Cheech" aren’t underrepresented in the mafia.

The American people have no idea who leads the Democrats, what they stand for, or what policies they would enact, it is my job to know these things and I don’t even know, because they won’t tell us.

For now at least, the theater kids are gonna be theater kids, so keep your Playbills handy, you never know what mind numbingly awful show these Democrats may put on next.

Top House Republicans send stern warning to Senate GOP as Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' risks delay

FIRST ON FOX: Top House Republicans are warning the Senate to proceed carefully with any possible changes to President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill."

"We in the House don't want to see this changed too much. Of course, they're going to put their mark on it, and they're going to shape it and hopefully make it better, But, yeah, it just can't change materially too much for us to have to thread that needle again," said Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman August Pfluger, R-Texas.

He hosted House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, on an episode of the RSC's podcast, "Right To The Point," an early copy of which was obtained by Fox News Digital.

Arrington told Pfluger, "The reality is, we struck a very difficult and very, very delicate balance in the House that could be disrupted on any number of policy fronts, if the Senate were to go too far."

148 DEMOCRATS BACK NONCITIZEN VOTING IN DC AS GOP RAISES ALARM ABOUT FOREIGN AGENTS

The RSC is a 189-strong member group in the House GOP that acts as the conference's de facto conservative think tank.

Arrington's committee, meanwhile, plays a central role in the budget reconciliation process – which is what Republicans are using to pass Trump's agenda on tax, immigration, energy, defense, and the national debt in one massive bill.

It's notable that they used the RSC's weekly podcast to send a pointed message to their colleagues in the Senate, which comes as lawmakers there wrestle with key issues in the House's version of the bill.

Senate Republicans still have to deal with unresolved questions on Medicaid and state and local tax (SALT) deductions, among other items.

REPUBLICANS CHALLENGE 'IRRELEVANT' BUDGET OFFICE AS IT CRITIQUES TRUMP'S 'BEAUTIFUL BILL'

Senate GOP leaders have said their changes to the bill are critical in order for it to survive their razor-thin majority of three seats – the same margin as the House holds.

The House passed its version of the bill by just one vote in late May. Now, different House GOP factions are warning that they will not accept the Senate's proposed changes on a number of key issues.

"If you and I had the pen, and it was just between two West Texans, I know there are deeper, deeper fiscal reforms that would bend the curve even more dramatically on our spending and debt to GDP. But we have other members that we have to negotiate with," Arrington said.

"So yes, make it as good as you can make in terms of improvements, but there is a point at which you will, instead of bend, you will break the delicate balance, and you will imperil the most important and most consequential bill – with the greatest set of conservative reforms in my lifetime, if not 100 years."

When reached for comment on Arrington's remark, Senate Majority Leader John Thune's office pointed Fox News Digital to the South Dakota Republican's appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show Wednesday.

"I met with [House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.] yesterday, and we’ve talked several times today already, just checking in on various aspects of the Senate bill and, you know, what the prospects are when it gets to the House," Thune said. "So there’s been a lot of coordination from the very beginning about this and that, you know, continues to this day, which is why we continue to stay in close contact."

Johnson, Thune and the White House have been in near-constant communication, hammering out details big and small in the bill.

Pfluger said he was still "hopeful," however, about Republicans' self-imposed July 4 deadline.

"The Senate is wrestling with this bill right now…to make the changes that make it better, but to send it back to us in a fiscally disciplined way, where we know we still garner the savings where we do the right things to put money back into American families pockets," Pfluger said.

Johnson told reporters on Friday that it was "possible" that the deadline could slip, but said he "doesn't want to accept that as an option right now."

Florida man indicted for '86' posts allegedly threatening to kill Alina Habba

FIRST ON FOX: A Florida man was indicted Friday for allegedly threatening to kill Alina Habba in a series of online "86" posts against the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Fox News Digital has learned.

The "86"" has been interpreted by law enforcement officials to mean "get rid of."

Gregory W. Kehoe, the interim U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced the charges Friday.

According to the indictment reviewed by Fox News Digital, Salvatore Russotto made a threat in May to "injure and kill the victim in a series of online posts."

FBI DIRECTOR PATEL SAYS HE'S HAD TO DIVERT RESOURCES TO INVESTIGATE 'COPYCATS' OF COMEY '86 47' POST

Fox News Digital has learned that the victim referred to in the indictment is Habba, the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey who previously served as counselor to President Donald Trump.

"[VICTIM] is a c---," Russotto posted. "86 that b----."

He also allegedly posted: "A slow painful death for [VICTIM]. 86 that c---."

Russotto also allegedly posted: "Eliminate [VICTIM]. 86 Traitor. Death penalty for all traitors."

Russotto was charged with transmission of an interstate threat to injure and retaliating against a federal law enforcement officer by threat.

"This is yet another disturbing example of a dangerous copycat inspired by the reckless behavior of former officials, targeting those who serve our country and threatening the very people working to keep America safe," FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News Digital. "Our FBI will not tolerate political violence in any form.

"I’m grateful to our law enforcement partners in Florida for their swift action and steadfast commitment to justice."

The indictment comes after Patel said he has been forced to divert agents to investigate "copycats" of potential threats to Trump as a result of former FBI Director James Comey’s "86 47" social media post last month.

FORMER FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY MEETS WITH SECRET SERVICE AFTER CONTROVERSIAL '86 47' POST

"Do you know how many agents I’ve had to take offline from chasing down child sex predators, fentanyl traffickers, terrorists, because, everywhere across this country, people are popping up on social media and think that a threat to the life of the president of the United States is a joke and they can do it because he did it?" Patel said last month.

"That’s what I’m having to deal with every single day, and that’s what I’m having to pull my agents and analysts off because he thought it was funny to go out there and make a political statement."

An FBI official told Fox News Digital the agency cannot disclose the number of "copycat" incidents due to ongoing investigations but described the number to Fox News Digital as "significant."

Comey met with Secret Service officials in Washington this month for an interview about his "86 47" Instagram post, two sources briefed on the meeting told Fox News.

Comey is under investigation for the now-deleted Instagram post that showed seashells arranged on a beach to say "86 47."

"Cool shell formation on my beach walk," he wrote along with the post.

Comey offered an explanation for the post after he received backlash on social media.

"I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message," the subsequent post from Comey said. "I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down."

The president, in a May interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, didn't accept Comey's explanation.

"He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant," Trump told Baier. "If you're the FBI director, and you don't know what that meant, that meant ‘assassination,’ and it says it loud and clear."

Trump admin ends contracts with publishing giant Springer Nature amid bias, China concerns

The Trump administration has stopped key funding for Springer Nature, the retraction-plagued, controversial publishing behemoth of more than 3,000 scientific and medical journals.

Springer Nature publications have long earned subscription revenue from academic and government institutions, but the Trump administration has terminated one key contract and allowed three others to expire, a Trump administration official told Fox News Digital.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) and cancer research pacts were deemed "mission essential" and therefore will remain intact, Fox News Digital has learned.

The Trump administration has cracked down on organizations with perceived political bias, business practices that the president believes misuse U.S. taxpayer dollars and foreign control.

TRUMP'S PLAN TO SLASH 'WOKE' FOREIGN AID, NPR FUNDS CLEARS HOUSE AS SENATE BATTLE LOOMS

The German-owned Springer Nature was forced to issue 2,923 retractions in 2024, according to Retraction Watch. The publishing giant has also been accused of significantly downplaying the COVID lab-leak theory and censoring content to appease the Chinese government. It also has a "peer review" process that critics believe is dominated by woke groupthink.

The brand’s popular "Nature Medicine" journal was cited frequently in a 2023 congressional report from the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic titled, "The Proximal Origin of a Cover-up."

Nature Medicine republished in March 2020 a report from a month earlier in Virological titled "The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2" that concluded the virus was "not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus."

"This is one of the single most impactful and influential scientific papers in history, and it expressed conclusions that were not based on sound science nor in fact, but instead on assumptions," the congressional report’s executive summary stated.

The Select Subcommittee report even suggested former NIAID director Dr. Anthony Fauci pushed for the publication of the entry that sought to dispel the Wuhan lab-leak theory. Fauci has denied any role in the article and said while he favored the natural-origin theory for the virus, he always had an open mind about the lab leak.

In 2017, Springer Nature was "caught blocking access to academic research in China," CNN reported at the time.

A spokesperson for Springer Nature brushed off concerns when asked for comment about the Trump administration terminating a contract and allowing others to expire.

"We are proud of our track record in communicating U.S. research to the rest of the world for over a century and continue to have good relationships with U.S. federal agencies," a spokesperson for Springer Nature told Fox News Digital.

"We don’t comment on individual contracts, but across our global business there is no material change to our customers or their spend," the spokesperson continued. "We remain confident about the strength of the service we provide."

Springer Nature did not immediately respond to follow-up questions about political bias, allegedly appeasing China, or use of taxpayer funds.

SPRINGER NATURE BLOCKS ACCESS TO ARTICLES IN CHINA

The funding termination was first reported by Axios

Axios also reported that the Justice Department formally sent a letter asking a Springer publication about "its editorial practices and accusing the publishing house of acting as a partisan in scientific debates, as well as wrongfully advocating for positions," citing a source with knowledge of the matter.

Springer Nature also publishes Scientific American, which endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election. It was only the second time in 179 years that the publication endorsed a candidate for president.

"Before making this endorsement, we evaluated Harris’s record as a U.S. senator and as vice president under Joe Biden, as well as policy proposals she’s made as a presidential candidate. Her opponent, Donald Trump, who was president from 2017 to 2021, also has a record—a disastrous one," Scientific American editors wrote.

SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN EDITOR APOLOGIZES AFTER BLASTING 'F---ING FASCISTS' WHO ELECTED DONALD TRUMP

Springer Nature also practices diversity, equity, and including (DEI) policies, according to its website. The company’s website has a "diversity commitment" section that details the publisher’s commitment to "promoting practices that support diversity and inclusion in science communication and publishing."

"As a guiding principle, we aim to foster equity, diversity and inclusion within our internal practices and in published content, embody these values in all our editorial activities and to support and promote these values in the research community," the website states

Springer Nature lists its priorities as increasing gender diversity among commissioned authors, and peer reviewer population and editorial board members, while promising to maintain a "no men-only" policy at its conferences.

Nature magazine also has "a language sensitivity guide," billed as a "resource of appropriate language to use when writing about topics such as ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, disability and health" to ensure "appropriately diverse representation" in its pages.

"We are currently developing our commitment on other aspects of diversity, prioritizing ethnic and racial diversity," the website states.

SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN MAGAZINE FACES CRITICISM AFTER KAMALA HARRIS ENDORSEMENT: 'VERY PROBLEMATIC'

At the height of the George Floyd protests in June 2020, the company committed to ending "anti-Black practices in research." The following month it published an editorial recognizing "the existence of systemic racism in medicine" and calling for it to stop.

Along the way, Springer Nature issued 2,923 retractions in 2024, according to Retraction Watch. Springer Nature noted that the majority were from articles published before 2023.

"61.5% (1797 articles) of retractions were for papers published before January 2023 as part of our commitment to cleaning up the academic record. 38.5% (1126) of retractions were for articles published after January 2023," it stated.

It also published 482,000 articles in 2024, so there were many that checked out, and Retraction Watch co-founder Ivan Oransky doesn’t believe the correction issue is as alarming as it seems.

"Springer Nature, like all major scientific publishers, has had to retract thousands of papers over the past several years because paper mills and other bad actors have taken advantage of poor quality control," Oransky told Fox News Digital.

Springer Nature retracted articles for "compromised peer review process," "inappropriate or irrelevant references," and "citation behavior" that resulted in the publisher no longer having "confidence in the results and conclusions" that were published.

Last year, Springer Nature found itself in the news when Laura Helmuth, the top editor at its "Scientific American" journal, referred to Americans who voted for Trump as the "meanest, dumbest, most bigoted" group and "f---ing fascists."

As Trump pulled ahead on Election Day, Helmuth repeatedly attacked the candidate's supporters on Bluesky, a social media platform that is popular with liberals.

"Solidarity to everybody whose meanest, dumbest, most bigoted high-school classmates are celebrating early results because f--- them to the moon and back," Helmuth wrote, while another post said, "I apologize to younger voters that my Gen X is so full of f---ing fascists."

Helmuth eventually apologized and deleted the comments. She resigned a few days later.

MLB rookie credits popular video game for early success

Athletics’ rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson has taken the big leagues by storm.

Wilson, 23, has a .347 batting average and nine home runs in 76 games this season. The shortstop’s batting average is second in MLB behind New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge (.361) and has the second lowest strikeout-rate in baseball at 6.8%.

The rising star said he believes that one of the key factors to his success is the video game, Fortnite.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

"Kids are going to love this one. Parents are going to hate me. I am a big believer in video games," Wilson told ESPN

"It's fast decision-making strategy. I think that gets me ready for the game, because when you're in the box, you have to process a lot."

Wilson credits the video game for helping him train his decision-making.

"There's some days where I'll wake up, and I'll play video games, and then I'll go to the field, and I'll have a good day. Some days I won't play and don't see the ball well. I think it really helps me train kind of the decision-making that I have to make six, seven hours later at the baseball field," Wilson said.

HALL OF FAMER TREVOR HOFFMAN DEFENDS 'OLD-SCHOOL' PADRES-DODGERS RIVALRY AFTER BENCH-CLEARING INCIDENT

The Athletics shortstop is currently the favorite to win American League Rookie of the Year with his strong play.

With the help of Fortnite, Wilson’s play might land him in the All-Star game next month in Atlanta

While Wilson might attribute some of his success to Fortnite, a lot of his success in the big leagues comes from an abundance of talent. Jacob is the son of Jack Wilson, who spent 12 seasons in Major League Baseball and made the NL All-Star team in 2004 with the Pittsburgh Pirates

Jack said he thinks video games can help with hand-eye coordination.

"I do believe in the hand-eye coordination that video games give -- as long as you do your homework," Jack told ESPN. "Kids, if you're reading, do your homework."

Jacob will look to continue his strong season when the Athletics (33-49) play the Detroit Tigers (50-31) on Thursday at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Substack emerges as solidly progressive platform with ‘liberal thought leaders’ flocking, researcher says

The growing media platform Substack is solidly liberal, with 81 of the 100 top-selling titles in the U.S. Politics category being "left-leaning or progressive," according to researcher Kyle Tharp.

Tharp, who pens the "Chaotic Era" newsletter, explained that Twitter used to be "the go-to arena for Democratic strategists, elected officials, and a new class of liberal take-makers," but Elon Musk’s takeover of the platform has pushed "liberal thought leaders" away.

Lefty influencers have searched for a new home and some have migrated to Bluesky or Threads, but Tharp believes "a winner appears to have emerged" in recent months.

BIG-NAME ANCHORS GOING INDEPENDENT, MAKING MONEY IN THE SUBSTACK ERA

"Newsletter platform Substack is having a moment, fueled largely by an influx of liberal-leaning political and media figures eager to share their takes. Online pundits and anti-Trump resistance leaders like Heather Cox Richardson, Dan Pfeiffer, Simon Rosenberg, Norm Eisen, Steve Schmidt, and Mary Trump have built sizable audiences by weighing in on the news of the day," Tharp wrote

"Democratic elected officials—including Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Chris Murphy—have launched their own publications on the platform, aiming to grow dedicated followings ahead of potential presidential bids," he continued.

"Perhaps most notably for the media industry, mainstream journalists who have left legacy outlets are finding new freedom to share their political opinions more openly on Substack. Among them: Taylor Lorenz, Mehdi Hasan, Tara Palmeri, Jennifer Rubin, Don Lemon, Jim Acosta, Terry Moran, and Dan Rather," Tharp added.

TERRY MORAN STANDS BY SOCIAL MEDIA POST ABOUT TRUMP, MILLER, SAYS ABC FELT HE WAS 'BAD FOR BUSINESS'

Moran, who was axed from ABC News this month after posting an anti-Trump rant on X, quickly joined Substack and used the platform to double down on his social media post that called Trump and White House aide Stephen Miller "world-class haters."

"This, while very hot, is an observation, a description that is accurate and true," Moran said.

He added later, "It was something that was in my heart and mind. And I would say I used very strong language, deliberately, because he, I felt [was]… spitting venom and lies into our debate, degrading our public discourse, debasing it and using the power of the White House and what he's been given to grind us down in that bile. And, that's very disturbing to me."

Tharp noted that "They’re building a new echo chamber of left-leaning or anti-Trump commentary" one newsletter at a time. He included a graphic of the Top 50 "bestsellers" in the U.S. Politics category, which reveals the overwhelming majority of political content being consumed on Substack is of the liberal variety.

The company appears to be embracing the liberal audience, as Tharp noted that anti-Trump figures Michael Cohen, Joe Walsh and Don Lemon are being used in the company’s latest advertising campaign. He’s unsure if the platform will continue the momentum "or if it’s simply the latest stopover for Twitter refugees in search of an audience."

"For now, Substack stands as a key town square for a certain segment of the left, reshaping how political narratives are distributed, debated, and consumed," Tharp wrote.

Substack does feature prominent non-liberals, such as The Free Press editor Bari Weiss, and it bills itself as "a new media app that connects you with the creators, ideas, and communities you care about most."

"Here, you can discover world-class video, podcasts, and writing from a diverse set of creators who cover politics, pop culture, food, philosophy, tech, travel, and so much more," Substack’s website states.

More Iranians with criminal histories arrested by ICE in Trump's security sweep: 'Worst of the worst'

EXCLUSIVE: At least five more Iranian nationals were arrested on Monday in addition to the 11 announced by the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, 45-year-old Mohammad Hassanpoor was arrested by officers in Baltimore and given a "Third County Notice." He was previously criminally convicted of "assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily injury," where he was sentenced to just under a year behind bars.

He was also previously sentenced roughly three months behind bars for "battery: spouse/ex sp/date/etc." and sentenced to two years for stalking.

Kaveh Abedi, 45, was arrested in Chicago on Monday for "violations of the Immigration and Nationality Act" and had a 2001 conviction for selling cocaine.

Arish Rustami was also arrested and has a prior sex offense, and Abdolmohammad Raghibzadeh was taken into ICE custody on Monday. He’s had a deportation order since November 2005 from an Arizona immigration judge, and he’s currently an Iranian citizen, according to ICE.

In 1999, he previously faced arrests for "domestic violence, vandalism and intimidation" and faced 90 days behind bars and five years of probation as a result. He faced two other arrests and jail time for "violations of probation of the previous crimes."

In May 2006, Raghibzadeh could not get proper paperwork to go back to Iran, so he was given an "order of supervision" and then released.  But in 2007, he was arrested again by sheriffs in Santa Ana, Calif., for not following probation and had to spend the rest of it at the California Chino Detention Center, according to ICE.

Sahand Yousefinasrabadi was arrested Monday by federal authorities "during targeted enforcement action" in Forth Worth, Texas. Yousefinasrabadi was convicted in Sept. 2013 of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and he was asked in October 2013 to leave the U.S. by an immigration judge.

EX-ICE CHIEF WARNS BIDEN'S BORDER CRISIS LIKELY FUELED IRANIAN SLEEPER THREAT IN US

The arrests come amid concerns about Iranian sleeper cells in the United States following the strikes on nuclear sites in the Middle Eastern nation. While there is currently a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, DHS noted the arrests made since Sunday.

"Under Secretary Noem, DHS has been full throttle on identifying and arresting known or suspected terrorists and violent extremists that illegally entered this country, came in through Biden’s fraudulent parole programs or otherwise," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement about the initial 11 arrests that were publicly announced.

"We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst out—and we are. We don’t wait until a military operation to execute; we proactively deliver on President Trump’s mandate to secure the homeland," McLaughlin added.

Notably, Yousef Mehridehno was arrested by ICE on Sunday in Mississippi and was on a "known or suspected" terror watchlist as of February.

Former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps member Mehran Makari Saheli was arrested by ICE in Minnesota, and DHS said he has "admitted connections to Hezbollah" and stayed in the U.S. despite being court-ordered to leave in June 2022.

During the Biden administration alone, 729 out of the roughly 1,500 Iranian nationals that came into the country illegally were released into the U.S.

US strike damage to Iran's Natanz, Isfahan nuclear facilities captured in satellite images

Fresh satellite images have captured the damage caused by American B-2 stealth bombers in airstrikes targeting Iran’s Isfahan and Natanz nuclear facilities.

Photos taken by Planet Labs PBC show that multiple buildings were hit at both sites as a result of Operation Midnight Hammer.

"At the Isfahan nuclear site ... buildings were hit, with the U.S. confirming their use of cruise missiles," International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said Monday. "Affected buildings include some related to the uranium conversion process. Also at this site, entrances to tunnels used for the storage of enriched material appear to have been hit.

"At the Natanz enrichment site, the Fuel Enrichment Plant was hit, with the U.S. confirming that it used ground-penetrating munitions," he added.

AMERICANS IN QATAR TOLD TO SHELTER IN PLACE AND AIRSPACE SHUT DOWN AS IRANIAN MILITARY THREATENS ACTION

The U.S. launched a surprise strike using B-2 stealth bombers on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities on Saturday.

"All three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction," Joint Chiefs Chairman Air Force Gen. Dan Caine said during a briefing at the Pentagon on Sunday morning.

RUSSIA CLAIMS US STRIKES ON IRAN HAVE OPENED A ‘PANDORA’S BOX’ AND COULD LEAD TO GLOBAL ‘NUCLEAR CATASTOPHE’

He added that the full extent of the battle damage to the facilities would take time to assess.

Fordow, Iran's underground nuclear enrichment site, was pictured in satellite images showing from a bird's-eye view that the strike had obliterated some structures at the site.

Fordow is built into the side of a mountain near the city of Qom, about 60 miles southwest of Tehran, while Natanz and Isfahan are above ground.

Americans must have 'higher degree of vigilance' amid Iran terror threat, House Intel chair warns

EXCLUSIVE: The chair of the House Intelligence Committee is urging Americans across the country to practice "a higher degree of vigilance and situational awareness" as concerns about possible terror threats in the U.S. skyrocket over the situation in the Middle East.

Chair Rick Crawford, R-Ark., told Fox News Digital in an interview that people in the U.S. "need to have a sense of situational awareness and understand that there are people outside the United States that do seek to do us harm."

President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to hit three key Iranian nuclear bases over the weekend in a mission deemed a success by the vast majority of Republicans and some pro-Israel Democrats.

The targeted strikes, which U.S. officials said are not an act of war, came after a week of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. Israel, warning Iran was dangerously close to a nuclear weapon, launched preemptive strikes in and around Tehran earlier this month that killed several of the Islamic regime's top military officials and nuclear scientists.

ISRAEL’S ACTIONS AGAINST IRAN CREATE STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITY FOR US IN NUCLEAR TALKS, EXPERTS SAY

The Department of Homeland Security issued a memo warning of a "heightened threat environment" over the Israel-Iran conflict shortly after the U.S. strike. Meanwhile, NBC News reported that Iran threatened to activate sleeper cells in the U.S. if attacked.

It has rung alarm bells for top U.S. national security officials both in and outside of Congress.

Crawford, whose panel oversees the U.S. intelligence community, blamed the former Biden administration's actions for creating an illegal immigration crisis that he said could have potentially allowed bad actors to enter the U.S. in recent years.

"We know historically, Iran being the leading state sponsor of terror, we also know that during the Biden years, there were hundreds of Iranians that were allowed to come in, pretty much unchecked," he said, referring to people who crossed the border illegally.

"We don't necessarily have a good read on where they are, what their intentions are… And so I think we need to redouble our [counter-intelligence] posture in the United States."

A FULL BREAKDOWN OF OPERATION MIDNIGHT HAMMER, THE ‘LARGEST B-2 OPERATIONAL STRIKE IN US HISTORY’

White House border czar Tom Homan said on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" that there were "1,272 nationals of Iran released in the country between the [Office of Field Operations] and the Border Patrol" under former President Joe Biden.

On Congress' part, Crawford said the next fiscal year's Intelligence Authorization Act would broadly address the heightened terror environment in the U.S.

"We want to step up our [counter-intelligence] presence here at home and make sure that across the federal law enforcement enterprise, that they're adequately postured and resourced to address that threat," he said.

The Arkansas Republican also urged Americans to remember that Iran is also "trying to instill a sense of fear" with its threats.

"I do think if there are terror cells in the United States, at some point they could act. I don't think it would be anything on the scale of a 9/11, but it would certainly be designed to – just as the name implies – to inflict terror and cause the American people to adjust behavior and cause economic fallout and social upheaval and things of this nature," he said.

Nonetheless, he warned Americans to go about their daily lives aware of their surroundings, particularly in large public spaces.

SATELLITE IMAGE SHOWS FORDOW NUCLEAR FACILITY AFTER MASSIVE BOMB STRIKE

"For example, I mean, if something doesn't feel right…don't go there. Trust your judgment on that. I mean, just because you live in Arkansas as I do, doesn't necessarily mean that you're insulated from threats," he said.

"It also doesn't necessarily mean that you should be living in fear. It just means that if you see something amiss, if you have sort of a sense that maybe something's out of place, you know, trust your instincts. Maybe you need to call law enforcement, maybe you need to just remove yourself from a given situation if you don't feel like it's safe."

In the meantime, Crawford said he and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence will be seeking more information from federal officials.

"Absolutely, we'll be engaging with the intelligence community to get better insights into what's going on and and updated information in real time," he said, adding the panel generally gets information "quickly" from the intelligence community.

Flight passenger's rant about airline standby practices goes viral as record summer travel gets underway

An individual has taken to social media to rant that he or she is "tired of airlines acting like they’re doing you a favor for putting you on a flight you paid for" just as the busiest summer travel season gets underway — sparking a heated discussion online among other travelers.

"I book a flight weeks in advance and find out I’ve been put on standby when I get to the airport," wrote the person in a Reddit post, which elicited more than 5,000 reactions.

"I then get told, ‘Oh, you’re lucky we got you the last seats available.’"

FLIGHT PASSENGERS COMPLAIN ABOUT MASKLESS COUGHING ON BOARD AS SUMMER TRAVEL HEATS UP

The person added on the Reddit travel thread, "Lucky? I paid for this flight weeks in advance."

The Redditor went on to say, addressing an unnamed airline in the post, "You oversold the flight and are now scrambling people around and are acting like you’re doing me [a] favor for getting me a seat on the flight I originally booked and paid for."

One individual responded to the post, "They will cancel or change the flight at a moment's notice, but if you change it, it’s a problem and costs more."

That reply alone attracted some 3,000 reactions.

AMERICANS READY TO HIT THE ROAD IN RECORD NUMBERS THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY

The vast majority of commenters agreed with the original post and expressed similar levels of outrage.

"They rarely admit fault and if you make a mistake, it usually costs you," said another person. "It would be fair if they took responsibility, especially for overbooking."

Wrote yet another person in part, "While I understand the concept of positive positioning for customer service, it's insulting for them to use the word ‘lucky’ here. You paid for your ticket. You did your part. They created a problem and they had to solve it."

TOURISTS SPRAYED WITH WATER GUNS BY PROTESTERS AS EUROPEAN ANTI-TOURISM TREND GROWS

Said another commenter, "If you fly first class, they actually treat you like a person once you get on the plane."

Others online shared different perspectives — with some expressing confusion about the situation described.

"Did you make sure to check in 24 hours in advance?" wrote one person. "Some airlines will release your seat to standby if [you're] not checked in by the last hour or so."

Others also said they've never been bumped and asked the original poster for more details.

"I have never experienced that," wrote one person. "I don't take that many domestic flights, but I do travel quite a lot internationally. I [have] never been bumped or had my ticket canceled."

Said another person, "This has never happened to me. Ever."

Wrote someone else, "Did you buy a basic fare with no assigned seat? I'm confused as to how they could move you to standby."

With July 4th just up ahead, Americans are predicted to set a travel record this year to celebrate during the nation's 249th birthday.

AAA released its "Independence Day Travel Forecast" report, finding that 72.2 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home this July 4th, Fox News Digital previously reported.

The 2025 report is predicting an increase of 1.7 million travelers compared to last year, while determining there will be seven million more travelers compared to 2019.

Over 60 million Americans are set to drive to their destination, which is a 2.2% increase from 2024.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom challenges Vice President JD Vance to debate: 'How about saying it to my face?'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom challenged Vice President JD Vance to face off in a debate.

"Hey @JDVance — nice of you to finally make it out to California. Since you’re so eager to talk about me, how about saying it to my face? Let’s debate. Time and place?" the Democratic governor said in a Friday post on his @GavinNewsom X account.

So far, the vice president has not replied on the social media platform to Newsom's challenge.

JD VANCE RAILS AGAINST NEWSOM, LA MAYOR FOR DECLARING ‘OPEN SEASON ON FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT’

Fox News Digital reached out to Vance's press team on Saturday, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

The vice president lambasted the Golden State governor and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass while delivering remarks in Los Angeles on Friday.

Vance said that the governor "is endangering law enforcement," adding, "The law enforcement officials themselves tell me as much."

Newsom communications director Izzy Gardon pushed back, calling Vance "a liar" in an email to Fox News Digital on Saturday.

"Jose Vance is a liar. The Vice President’s claim is categorically false. There is no evidence to support his made-up claim — and we challenge him to produce any. The Governor has consistently condemned violence, including against law enforcement officers, and has made his stance clear over and over again. Here are at least a dozen examples," Gardon wrote, providing a list of more than a dozen links to posts on the @CAgovernor X account.

One of the posts reads, "Los Angeles: don’t take Trump’s bait. Trump wants chaos and he’s instigated violence. Those who assault law enforcement or cause property damage will risk arrest. Stay peaceful. Stay focused. Don’t give him the excuse he’s looking for."

Gardon's reference to "Jose Vance" seems to be a play on Vance's comment about "Jose Padilla" on Friday when apparently referring to U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif.

"He knows my name," Padilla said during remarks Saturday on MSNBC, calling Vance's jab an "indicator of how petty and unserious this administration is."

Rapper Fat Joe slams child sex abuse claims as $20M extortion scheme

Rapper Fat Joe is facing a $20 million lawsuit for allegedly engaging in sexual abuse against minors, among other accusations.

The lawsuit was filed on Thursday by his former hype man, T.A. Dixon, in the Southern District of New York. The suit accuses Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, of a "sustained campaign of exploitation."

The rapper "systematically engaged in coercive labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion," Dixon claimed in the 157-page lawsuit, obtained by Fox News Digital.

The lawsuit added that it was "all intended to enrich" Fat Joe and his associates "while deliberately suppressing, silencing, and erasing [Dixon’s] substantial creative, artistic, and commercial contributions, which were foundational to Defendant Cartagena's professional success and personal brand."

TYLER PERRY SUED FOR $260M BY ACTOR CLAIMING SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT

Fat Joe's lawyer told Fox News Digital, "The lawsuit filed by Tyrone Blackburn and Terrance Dixon is a blatant act of retaliation — a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the civil suit we filed first, which exposed their coordinated scheme to extort Mr. Cartagena through lies, threats, and manufactured allegations."

It added, "Law enforcement is aware of the extortionate demand at the heart of this scheme. The allegations against Mr. Cartagena are complete fabrications — lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure. Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated. We have taken legal action to expose this fraudulent campaign and hold everyone involved accountable."

Blackburn, Dixon's attorney, told Fox News Digital, "Fat Joe is Sean Combs minus the Tusi [a drug also known as "pink cocaine"]. It is clear he has learned nothing from his 2013 federal conviction," referring to the rapper's previous conviction on tax evasion charges.

Fat Joe’s alleged exploitation extended "beyond financial fraud," Dixon's lawsuit claimed, adding he was allegedly forced into "humiliating situations, including sex acts performed under duress and surveillance, accompanied by threats" that he would be left in foreign countries if he did not comply.

The lawsuit also claims that two of Fat Joe’s associates, Peter "Pistol Pete" Torres and Richard "Rich Player" Jospitre, who were also included as defendants in the lawsuit, "actively engaged in physical threats, violent assaults, and intimidation tactics on Cartagena's explicit instructions, sustaining a climate of fear and coercion against Plaintiff and others who challenged the Enterprise's control."

He claimed he was "coerced into more than 4,000 sexual acts to maintain his standing within the Enterprise."

DIDDY TRIAL WITNESS REVEALS THREATS AND VIOLENCE THAT COULD SUPPORT RICO CHARGES: EXPERT

Dixon also alleged that during his time with the rapper, he "personally witnessed" him "engage in sexual relations with children who were fifteen and sixteen years old."

"In exchange for cash, clothing, and payment of her cell phone bill, Defendant would get oral sex and other sexual acts performed on him by Minor Doe 1," the lawsuit claimed. Dixon said Minor Doe 1 was 16 years old.

He claimed that Fat Joe began having sex with a second minor when she was 15 years old after a concert overseas and paid for her to get a Brazilian butt lift.

Fat Joe also allegedly had sex with a third minor girl who met the rapper before she turned 16. He was "in love" with the third minor and "even contemplated leaving his wife" for her, the lawsuit claimed.

"In a recorded conversation, Minor Doe 3 and her 15-year-old cousin describe in detail to Plaintiff how ‘inappropriate’ it was for Defendant, who was in his late 30s at the time, to be fawning over children," the document alleged.

Dixon also worked as a "lyricist, background vocalist, security team member, and creative collaborator" during his time with the rapper, the lawsuit said, claiming he was "systematically excluded" from getting "fair compensation, proper attribution, and the substantial royalties and profits generated from his creative labor. Instead, Plaintiff was consistently underpaid, denied songwriting credits, and deliberately concealed from royalties and backend compensation."

Suspect arrested in horrific NYC rush-hour subway stabbing that injured 2

Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a horrific stabbing that left two individuals injured aboard a crowded New York City subway train Wednesday.

Footage obtained by FOX 5 New York captured the attack that police said unfolded as the train pulled into Grand Central Terminal during the morning rush hour around 7:20 a.m.

Law enforcement located the suspect, identified as Gavin Ferguson, 30, who was accused of running from the scene after stabbing two men in the stomach. Ferguson now faces charges of attempted murder and second-degree assault.

Israel's 'resounding' military campaign against Iran could be historic turning point, experts say

Israel’s military campaign in Iran has already produced "enormous achievements," according to experts tracking the conflict, with many citing the operation as the payoff for years of preparation, battlefield innovation and intelligence development.

Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and a leading voice on U.S. policy toward Iran, called Israel’s progress "a resounding military win."

"They’ve actually dominated the Iranian military," Dubowitz told Fox News Digital. "They’ve taken out many senior military leaders, the Iranian Air Force, and a significant percentage of missile launchers and ballistic inventory."

Still, Iran’s retaliation is taking a toll. On Thursday morning, an Iranian missile struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba and targeted several major cities, injuring hundreds.  Despite the heavy costs, military experts insist that the IDF continues to hold the upper hand, both tactically and strategically.

IRAN WARNS US JOINING CONFLICT WOULD MEAN ‘ALL‑OUT WAR’

Comparing the scale of success to the Six-Day War, Dubowitz said, "It’s starting to look like 1967, when the Israelis eviscerated five Arab armies. It may take longer than six days, but they’re certainly on that trajectory."

Hilla Hadad-Chmelnik, a strategist at "Mind Israel" think tank and former CEO of the Ministry of Innovation, noted that the success is no accident — it is the result of "years of preparation in every aspect." From developing long-range strike capabilities to building an unparalleled intelligence apparatus and adapting operational doctrines from Gaza and Lebanon, she said the IDF’s current dominance is a product of both innovation and experience.

"This is not a campaign someone decided to do six months ago," she said. "This is years of work — in intelligence, in weapons development, in defensive and offensive operations. The methods we tested against Hezbollah — striking command chains quickly and precisely — were studied, refined, and applied here."

She pointed to lessons learned in Gaza, especially the importance of rapidly identifying and eliminating rocket launchers before strikes even begin. "We learned through hard fighting that you have to neutralize launchers, not just intercept the missiles. And that doctrine — developed in Gaza where targets are five minutes away — has now been adapted to Iran, with all the complexity that entails."

ISRAEL SAYS IT HAS AERIAL SUPERIORITY OVER TEHRAN, IRANIAN INTELLIGENCE LEADER KILLED"

Hadad-Chmelnik stressed that Israel’s control over Iranian skies is "stunning … the Air Force is flying over Iran day after day. Drones are holding the skies."

Even with the heavy toll taken when Iran's missiles get through, like the attack against Soroka hospital on Thursday, she credited the country’s defensive systems, like Iron Dome and David’s Sling — systems she helped develop — which intercepted missile salvos with over 90% effectiveness, even amid unprecedented barrages. "This is a war of a different scale, and yet the systems are holding," she said.

Dubowitz acknowledged that despite massive gains, one key target remains: the Fordow nuclear enrichment facility, buried under a mountain at a Revolutionary Guard base.

"Israel has devastated Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. They’ve eliminated 14 senior nuclear scientists — the ‘Oppenheimers’ of Iran’s program," he said. "But Fordow remains. And if it’s left standing, Iran can rebuild."

While Dubowitz clarified that he is not explicitly calling for U.S. military strikes, he said that "President Trump must ensure Fordow is fully dismantled — whether through a diplomatic agreement or, if Iran refuses, a targeted military intervention."

He outlined three potential paths: "One, Iran shows up for a real deal and the program is dismantled. Two, Trump strikes Fordow. Three, Trump strikes and then negotiates. But either way, it has to end with Iran losing its nuclear weapons capability — not just temporarily, but permanently."

INSIDE ISRAEL’S SECRET WAR IN IRAN: MOSSAD COMMANDOS, HIDDEN DRONES AND THE STRIKE THAT STUNNED TEHRAN

Hadad-Chmelnik, believes Israel’s success has created an opportunity for the United States.

"Thanks to the phenomenal achievements of the IDF, the situation is now very clear. If the U.S. were to join at this point, with Fordow as the main remaining target and most assets already degraded, it would not look like getting pulled into a quagmire," she said. "This is nothing like Ukraine or Afghanistan. There’s an actual path to decisive success, and that can change the political calculus in Washington."

Dubowitz added that Israel’s offensive struck not only military and nuclear targets, but also Iran’s internal security infrastructure — including state media and the regime’s repressive arms. for that, he said, could open the door for future domestic unrest. "We can’t expect people to protest while missiles are falling. But if Israel continues striking the regime’s tools of repression, space may open for Iranians to return to the streets."

Dubowitz, who has spent two decades warning of Iran’s nuclear ambitions, reflected on the moment with cautious hope. "I’m heartened to see the long arm of Israeli justice reach those responsible for such brutal aggression," he said.

"This may be a historic opportunity to truly end Iran’s nuclear threat, and perhaps even to support the Iranian people in reclaiming their future," he added, "There have been incredible achievements, but if Fordow is left standing by President Donald Trump, then it could end up being a Pyrrhic victory."

A young family in Alabama is grieving after a devastating boat accident led to the death of 27-year-old Brittney Sherman.

Sherman, of Wilmer, Alabama, was boating in Bayou Sara near Saraland in Mobile County on June 15 along with her husband, 30-year-old Cody Sherman, and the couple's four children.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed to Fox News Digital that two boats were involved in a collision at approximately 5:50 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said the incident involved a 20-foot Avid Center Console vessel occupied by the Sherman family and a 26-foot Regulator Center Console.

Despite the swift arrival of emergency crews, search efforts were hampered by the bayou’s murky waters, making it difficult to locate Sherman in the aftermath of the crash.

On Monday morning, search and rescue personnel resumed the search for the missing mom. At approximately 10:50 a.m., personnel recovered Sherman's body about 100 yards from the spot where she had entered the water.

Cody and Brittney shared four children together. In the wake of her passing, Cody expressed the weight of raising the children alone.

"Brittney I love you more than anything in this world," Cody wrote on Facebook. "I promise to take care of these babies for you, sweetheart! I know that you are up there watching over us."

"Please show me how to do this," added Cody. "I’m not sure how I’m gonna make it and I’m gonna do my best to make you proud. I love you until we meet again!!"
