Angel Reese pays off mother's mortgage in surprise birthday gift

Angel Reese surprised her mom with a birthday gift that nearly brought her to tears.

"You said that if your mortgage was paid off that you would retire, or you won’t work, or you can pick if you want to work still, so your mortgage has been paid," Reese said.

Webb Reese nearly dropped the cake she had been given, in disbelief.

"What?" Webb Reese said, flabbergasted.

"Today, your mortgage has been paid. You ain’t gotta worry about your mortgage no more. And if you want to still work and keep yourself busy, you can keep yourself busy," Reese continued.

"Are you serious?" Webb Reese said, overwhelmed by Reese’s gift.

"And when I move to Chicago this year — actually I’m getting a house, y’all — you can come stay with me whenever you want to," Reese added.

"That was my biggest goal in life, to retire you. To pay your mortgage or whatever you wanted for you not to work."

Webb Reese started to tear up and then Reese came over to her and sang "Happy Birthday."

Webb Reese played for the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and was inducted into the UMBC Athletics Hall of Fame.

Reese wore #10 at LSU once it became available to honor her mother, as Webb Reese wore #10 in her playing days.

Now with the Chicago Sky, Reese dons #5.

Gabbard sheds light on Assad visit, expresses shock intelligence community showed no interest at the time

Director of national intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard shed further light on her 2017 meeting with then-Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, a trip that has come under the microscope since President Donald Trump nominated the former congresswoman.

"There is not a great deal in the public record about what you and Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad discussed for so long in January of 2017. And I think there's a great deal of interest from the American people about what was discussed in that meeting. So what did you talk about? And did you press Assad on things like his use of chemical weapons, systematic torture and the killing of so many Syrians?" Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., asked Gabbard on Thursday.

Gabbard, when she served in the U.S. House, traveled to Syria in 2017, when she met with the dictator, whose government was overthrown years later in 2024. The visit has become a focal point of Democrats' criticism of the DNI nominee, arguing the visit casts doubt on her worldview and judgment.

'LIES AND SMEARS': TULSI GABBARD RAILS AGAINST DEM NARRATIVE SHE'S TRUMP'S AND PUTIN'S 'PUPPET'

"Yes, senator, I, upon returning from this trip, I met with people like then-Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Steny Hoyer, talked to them and answered their questions about the trip," Gabbard, who served in the U.S. House representing Hawaii from 2013 to 2021, responded.

TENSION BUILDS AROUND TULSI GABBARD’S CONFIRMATION WITH KEY GOP SENATORS UNDECIDED

"And quite frankly, I was surprised that there was no one from the intelligence community or the State Department who reached out or showed any interest whatsoever in my takeaways from that trip. I would have been very happy to have a conversation and give them a back brief. I went with former Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who had been there many times before and who had met with Assad before. A number of topics were covered and discussed. And to directly answer your question, yes. I asked him tough questions about his own regime's actions. The use of chemical weapons and the brutal tactics that were being used against his own people."

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi also met with Assad in 2007, despite then-President George W. Bush's criticism of the visit at the time.

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ SPARKS BACKLASH FOR CLAIMING TULSI GABBARD IS A RUSSIAN ASSET

"Were you able to extract any concessions from President Assad?" Heinrich asked Gabbard.

"No, and I didn't expect to, but I felt these issues were important to address," she continued.

"Just in complete hindsight, would you, would you view this trip as, good judgment?" the Senate lawmaker continued.

"Yes, senator. And I believe that leaders, whether you be in Congress or the president of the United States, can benefit greatly by going and engaging boots on the ground, learning and listening and meeting directly with people, whether they be adversaries or friends," Gabbard said.

Gabbard is appearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday as part of her nomination process to serve as director of national intelligence under the second Trump administration.

Whoopi Goldberg lashes out at Karoline Leavitt, says 'wokeness' got her the press secretary job

"The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg lashed out at White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday over her remarks about wokeness during her first press briefing and suggested that wokeness got her the job as press secretary.

"I would like her to do homework. She said something yesterday that pissed me off, that was, ‘there will be no wokeness here.’ Let me explain, without that wokeness, you might not have that job," Goldberg said.

Leavitt hosted her first press briefing on Monday, and was asked about the pause on some federal grants related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs and more, and said the pause meant "no more funding for transgenderism and wokeness across our federal bureaucracy and agencies, as well as no "more funding for Green New Deal social engineering policies."

"Because women were not invited to that table. Women were not invited to many tables in this nation. The reason we fought and busted our behinds to make sure that you didn’t have to worry about this, and now to hear you talk about it and to hear anybody talk about the wokeness, the wokeness was put in place for a reason, because Black people couldn’t get into colleges, because women could not get into the colleges they wanted to go to. This is all women. See, this is not Black, Asian women. This is all women. Women were not invited to this party. It was a man’s world, and we busted our a--es to make sure that this was a person's world," Goldberg added.

INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING DIRECT ASSISTANCE WON'T BE IMPACTED BY FEDERAL FUNDING FREEZE, PRESS SECRETARY SAYS

Goldberg called on Leavitt to stop using the "wokeness" phrase and added, "you don’t understand what you’re saying."

"You’re saying about yourself that, you know, hey, that’s a terrible thing to be. It’s not a terrible thing to be. That’s why we fought, that’s what we were fighting for so that you could stand in that podium, so that Karine Jean-Pierre could stand at that podium so women of all colors and ilks, wherever they came from, whatever their belief system was, they had the opportunity to bust down that door," she added.

Leavitt did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The press secretary announced during the briefing that the Trump administration was rolling out major changes to make room for newer, less traditional media voices in the briefing room.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE

"In keeping with this revolutionary media approach that President Trump deployed during the campaign, the Trump White House will speak to all media outlets and personalities, not just the legacy media who are seated in this room," she began before citing Gallup polls showing Americans' low confidence in the mainstream media.

The co-hosts of "The View" mostly took issue with the new approach.

Co-host Sunny Hostin said new media were not qualified to be in the room, and Goldberg suggested she didn't want anyone to be able to just "spout stuff" at the briefings.

"Quite honestly I like when we’re held to standards. I don’t always like the way they do it but we have to have ourselves together. We can’t just say stuff in spite of what they tell you. We can’t just spout stuff. So I want that for everybody," she said.

Raiders owner Mark Davis says Jon Gruden’s resignation set organization back: ‘His head was chopped off’

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis hired Jon Gruden as head coach in 2018, locking him with a massive 10-year contract with the confidence that bringing Gruden back would bring stability and success to the organization.

Instead, Gruden would be forced to resign years later over an email scandal – a sequence of events that Davis believes largely set the organization back.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Davis praised the additions of new head coach Pete Carroll and new general manager John Spytek. However, he also praised the team’s new "infrastructure," which includes Tom Brady as a minority owner.

"Bringing in Tom Brady was bringing in somebody that was on the football side that I had been lacking having here at the organization," Davis said.

"Back in 2018 with Jon Gruden, he was someone that I brought in and really expected to be that person on the football side that would bring stability to the organization. He had a 10-year contract and all that – and his head was chopped off."

EX-NFL COACH JON GRUDEN RIPS STATE OF COLLEGE SPORTS

Gruden, who is currently suing the NFL, resigned after leaked emails sent by the former head coach included racist, misogynistic and homophobic remarks directed at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, among others.

Davis said that Gruden’s resignation in 2021 triggered a series of turnovers in the organization.

"We were put in a really bad position as an organization. And we tried to get it right with Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler – that didn’t work out. Antonio Pierce was given the interim job and I believe the job that he did as an interim coach warranted him earning the job as head coach of the Raiders… We just felt that it was time for a change."

Davis said Monday that he believes Brady fills the void left behind by Gruden and that the new personnel brought in will have the lasting effect he had hoped for in 2018.

"We want to build something here. That’s been the process and mindset all along. Like I said, that got offset or kind of blown up when Jon Gruden was sent away. So, we’ve been trying to get it right since then. We’ll see, but I’ve got patience to get it right."

Carroll takes over as the team’s 14th head coach since Gruden was traded to Tampa Bay in 2002. He is the fifth coach, including those in an interim role, since the Raiders moved to Las Vegas in 2020.

Scorched-earth Shanahan: RFK Jr.'s former running mate threatens political war against confirmation opponents

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s former presidential running mate Nicole Shanahan called out various senators by name, warning that she will fund primary challenges against them if they oppose confirming RFK Jr. to serve as secretary of Health and Human Services.

"Dear U.S. Senators, Bobby may play nice; I won’t," she wrote in a post on X.

In a video, Shanahan said that in 2020 she "cut large checks to Chuck Schumer to help Democrats flip two Senate seats in Georgia from red to blue." Peach State Democratic Sens. Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff both initially took office after winning runoff contests in early 2021.

Shanahan bluntly warned the two senators, "please know I will be watching your votes very closely. I will make it my personal mission that you lose your seats in the Senate if you vote against the future health of America's children."

TRUMP NOMINEES RFK JR, LOEFFLER, LUTNICK FACE SENATE GRILLING TODAY; BONDI COMMITTEE VOTE EXPECTED

She then proceeded to call out Sens. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, Susan Collins, R-Maine, Bill Cassidy, R-La., Thom Tillis, R-N.C., James Lankford, R-Okl., Cory Booker, D-N.Y., John Fetterman, D-Pa., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. and Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev.

"While Bobby may be willing to play nice, I won't. If you vote against him, I will personally fund challengers to primary you in your next election. And I will enlist hundreds of thousands to join me," she declared.

Shanahan, who urged people to reach out to their senators to press them to support RFK Jr.'s nomination, followed up her video with a post tagging each of the 13 senators she had mentioned — the post also included phone numbers.

Kennedy, a Democrat-turned-independent presidential candidate, ultimately dropped out and backed then-candidate Donald Trump in the 2024 White House contest.

Trump later announced Kennedy as his pick to serve as HHS secretary.

But the HHS nominee still needs to earn enough support in the Senate to clear the confirmation hurdle.

Harvey Weinstein begs for rape trial to be moved up, 'can't hold on anymore' amid cancer battle

Harvey Weinstein begged the court to push his trial date forward as he battles cancer.

Judge Curtis J. Farber set Weinstein's rape retrial for April 15 during Wednesday's hearing. However, the disgraced entertainment mogul claimed he would not be here in April.

"I’m asking and begging you to switch," Weinstein told the judge in a rare direct address to the court. "I can’t hold on anymore. I’m holding on because I want justice for myself."

Weinstein told Judge Farber that he was given the "wrong pills" earlier Wednesday morning but "caught" the mistake at the "right moment."

HARVEY WEINSTEIN HOSPITALIZED AFTER ‘ALARMING BLOOD TEST’ AS REP CONFIRMS LEUKEMIA DIAGNOSIS

"I am begging for you to move your date, so we can proceed with trial as quickly as possible, so I can get out of this hellhole," he claimed. "There are so many people suffering in Rikers island. They don’t have the same mouthpiece. It’s a medieval situation. This is something that has to be stopped."

Farber told Weinstein and his lawyers he was trying to resolve and move the trial up, but as of now, April 15 is the date that works.

"Judge Farber demonstrated exceptional responsiveness, and we deeply appreciate his thoughtful consideration of Harvey’s condition and circumstances," Weinstein's representative, Juda Engelmayer, told Fox News Digital in a statement. "He is literally batting for his life. We remain confident in a swift and efficient trial process and firmly believe that Harvey will be fully exonerated."

HARVEY WEINSTEIN RUSHED FROM PRISON TO HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCY HEART SURGERY

Weinstein was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in December after receiving an "alarming blood test." At the time, his rep confirmed the former film producer had been diagnosed with leukemia.

"Mr. Weinstein, who is suffering from a number of illnesses, including leukemia, has been deprived the medical attention that someone in his medical state deserves, prisoner or not. In many ways, this mistreatment constitutes cruel and unusual punishment," Engelmayer previously told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Weinstein's team has been adamant about his declining health in recent months, claiming he is "basically getting no treatment" for his various medical issues.

"All I can tell you is he is not getting the treatment he deserves," Weinstein's lawyer, Arthur Aidala, said after a court hearing in July. "He needs some relief. We are very confident of the outcome of this trial… he will get acquitted. There is a lot of light at the end of the tunnel for Mr. Weinstein."

A New York appeals court overturned Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction this past April, ordering a new trial in a stunning reversal of a landmark #MeToo case.

In a 4-3 decision, the court found that Weinstein's trial judge allowed prosecutors to call women who said Weinstein had assaulted them to testify, even though their accusations did not specifically relate to the entertainment mogul's charges.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison after being convicted in February 2020 of forcing oral sex on TV and film production assistant Mimi Haley in 2006 and third-degree rape of hairstylist Jessica Mann in 2013. He was acquitted of first-degree rape and two counts of predatory sexual assault from actor Annabella Sciorra’s allegations of rape in the 1990s. Weinstein has denied ever engaging in non-consensual sex.

Former New England Patriots star Julian Edelman will be covering the Super Bowl as an analyst for FOX Sports when Super Bowl LIX takes place on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

The game will put the finishing touches on Brady’s first full season as a broadcaster. He will get to put everything he has learned over the course of the season into a finished product with millions of viewers set to tune in to the FOX broadcast and the Tubi livestream of the game.

Edelman appeared on Fox News Channel’s "Fox & Friends" and had high expectations for the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

"I guarantee he’s probably going to be very fired up," Edelman said. "He’s probably going to be imagining himself in those situations.

"I think it’s going to be a great performance by him because he’s gonna get to show us inside looks to things only he knows Patrick Mahomes is going through."

Brady has reportedly been barred from meeting with teams ahead of the game, which is usually reserved for broadcasters to gather knowledge to help them through their calls, because of his minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

The former Patriots wide receiver said he believed Brady would be able to persevere without those meetings.

"I’m sure he can figure it out on his own. I’m pretty confident coaches and players of the other team don’t mind talking to Tom Brady," he said.

Top JD Vance political advisors to steer Ramaswamy run for Ohio governor

Vice President JD Vance's political team, including two top advisors, is joining Vivek Ramaswamy's soon-to-be announced 2026 Ohio gubernatorial run, a source with knowledge confirmed to Fox News.

The news follows conversations between Ramaswamy and Vance, who until he stepped down earlier this month to assume the vice presidency was a senator from Ohio, added the operative, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely.

Ramaswamy, a multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate, for weeks has been putting the pieces together to launch a gubernatorial campaign in the race to succeed GOP Gov. Mike DeWine of Ohio, who is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

"Expect Vivek to announce his candidacy in mid-February," the source told Fox News.

RAMASWAMY DONE AT DOGE AS HE HEADS BACK ON CAMPAIGN TRAIL

Ramaswamy was among the contenders who challenged President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination before dropping out of the race and becoming a top Trump ally and surrogate.

The two Vance advisors are Andy Surabian and Jai Chabria, who played major roles in Vance's 2022 Senate race and in his vice presidential campaign last summer and autumn, after Trump named the first-term senator as his running mate.

MUSK AND RAMASWAMY IGNITE MAGA WAR OVER SKILLED WORKER IMIMGRATION

The Ohio-based Chabria, a veteran in Buckeye State politics, is expected to serve as the Ramaswamy campaign's general consultant.

Surabian, who is also a top advisor to Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son and a top figure in the MAGA movement, will steer an outside political group allied with Ramaswamy.

Tony Fabrizio, the veteran Republican pollster who worked on Trump’s 2016 and 2024 campaigns, as well as Vance’s 2022 Senate campaign, is also on board, according to the source, as is Arthur Schwartz, another close ally to Vance and Donald Trump Jr.

Vance, who has known Ramaswamy since they both studied at Yale Law School, has put his imprint on Ohio politics since winning his 2022 Senate election in the one-time key battleground state that has shifted to the right over the past decade.

Vance endorsed now-Sen. Bernie Moreno ahead of his 2024 GOP Senate primary victory, and key members of Vance's political team steered Moreno's campaign.

"It should not come as a surprise that JD's top operatives are working with Vivek, given that JD and Vivek have had a longtime friendship," a source in Vance's political orbit told Fox News.

A longtime Ohio-based Republican operative, who asked for anonymity to speak more freely, said Vance is "sending a message" with this move.

He added that the advisors joining the Ramaswamy effort are "an all-star caliber campaign team."

CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS REPORTING ON VIVEK RAMASWAMY

Also part of that team, according to the source, are three veterans from Ramaswamy's White House campaign – Ben Yoho, Mike Biundo and Chris Grant.

Ramaswamy, who's now 39 years old, launched his presidential campaign in February 2023 and quickly saw his stock rise as he went from a long shot to a contender for the Republican nomination.

He campaigned on what he called an "America First 2.0" agenda and was one of Trump's biggest supporters in the field of rivals, calling Trump the "most successful president in our century."

Ramaswamy dropped his White House bid a year ago after a distant fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and quickly endorsed Trump, becoming a top surrogate on the campaign trail.

Trump, in the days after his November presidential election victory, named Elon Musk, the world's richest person, along with Ramaswamy, to steer the Department of Government Efficiency initiative, which is better known by its acronym DOGE.

But last Monday, as Trump was inaugurated, the new administration announced that Ramaswamy was no longer serving at DOGE. Ramaswamy's exit appears to clear the way for Musk, Trump's top donor and key ally, to steer DOGE without having to share the limelight.

"It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. I’m confident that Elon & team will succeed in streamlining government. I’ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, we’re all-in to help President Trump make America great again!," Ramaswamy wrote.

DeWine announced a week and a half ago that Lt. Gov. Jon Husted would fill the U.S. Senate seat that was held by Vance until he stepped down ahead of the Trump/Vance inauguration.

Before the Senate announcement, Husted had planned to run for governor in 2026 to succeed DeWine. Ramaswamy, for his part, had expressed interest in serving in the Senate.

DeWine's decision to choose Husted to fill the vacant Senate seat appeared to accelerate Ramaswamy's move toward launching a run for governor.

Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, a major Trump ally in the Senate, on Monday endorsed Ramswamy's all-but-certain gubernatorial bid.

"I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Vivek G. Ramaswamy, and he is totally focused on trying to save our country," Scott said in a social media post.

"Ohioans want a shakeup in Columbus just as much as in Washington, and Vivek Ramaswamy is the bold leader to bring that change," attorney and political commentator Mehek Cooke, who was in the running to be named to Vance’s Senate seat that ultimately went to Husted, shaking up the gubernatorial race, told Fox News Digital.

"Already gaining strong favor among Ohio conservatives, his high name ID and unwavering energy make him a formidable force for Governor. Much like President Trump, Vivek will bring a commitment to job creation, efficiency, and bold leadership. A businessman at heart, he knows how to drive economic growth, while as a father, he prioritizes merit over mediocrity for the future of Ohio’s children. With a powerful team led by seasoned strategists Vivek has the winning combination of grassroots support and strong fundraising to make Ohio economically vibrant and secure for all us."

The race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination could be competitive. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, 68, announced late last week his candidacy for governor.

"This is my heart, my home," Yost said in a Thursday press release announcing his candidacy. "I work for the people of Ohio, and I love my bosses. From the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night, I'm thinking about them and our future."

Yost is also bringing in campaign staff from the Trump world and announced that former Trump campaign official Justin Clark has joined the Yost campaign as a general consultant.

"Justin is nationally recognized for winning some of the most hotly contested races in the country," Amy Natoce, Yost campaign spokeswoman and senior advisor, told Fox News Digital. "As a longtime advisor to President Trump, he knows what it means to work with conservative America First candidates like Dave Yost. His experience is invaluable and we’re thrilled to have him on our team."

Ramaswamy's move to run for governor also comes a couple of weeks after he and Musk sparked a firestorm among Trump's hard core MAGA supporters over their support for H-1B temporary worker visas for highly skilled workers from foreign countries.

Ramaswamy's comments criticizing an American culture that he said "venerated mediocrity over excellence" received plenty of pushback from some leading voices on the right as well as some in Trump's political circle.

Ohio, which was once a top general election battleground, has shifted red over the past decade as Republicans have dominated statewide elections.

WWII veteran turns 100, reveals the secrets of a long, healthy life

A man who served in World War II as an airman recently turned 100 years old — and celebrated in style with two different birthday parties.

He also said the smartphone has been one of the most significant inventions in his lifetime — plus shared his tips for living a long and healthy life

John Fife, who lives in Clevedon, in North Somerset in the U.K., turned 100 on Dec. 26, 2024, news agency SWNS reported.

EATING THIS BREAKFAST FOOD COULD HELP YOU LIVE LONGER, STUDY SUGGESTS

He celebrated first with family and friends at a hotel — and second with friends and neighbors in the lounge at Coleridge Court, a McCarthy Stone Retiring Living development, as SWNS noted.

He said, "I feel very fortunate that I still enjoy good health and am able to get out and about."

Born and educated in Edinburgh, Fife said he was called up for national service with the Royal Air Force in 1943.

He trained as a wireless operator and air gunner in the RAF, SWNS said.

He then served with Coastal Command Air/Sea Rescue until he was demobilized in 1946.

TO LIVE LONGER, DO THESE 5 THINGS EVERY DAY, SAYS A BRAIN HEALTH EXPERT

After leaving the military, Fife got married and started a career in the civil service with the Post Office Savings Bank in two different locations.

He, his wife and their two sons moved to Glasgow in 1966 where, following the separation of the Savings Bank from the Post Office, he worked on setting up a new headquarters for the Savings Bank, known today in the U.K. as National Savings & Investments, the same source noted.

During this time, he received special recognition for his services.

"In 1970, I was presented to Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to the headquarters of the new Department," Fife said, as SNWS reported.

He retired from the Civil Service in 1984 and moved to Clevedon to be nearer his sons.

Good Samaritan grocery shopper, dad killed while trying to stop teen robbery suspects

Two Oregon teens are facing murder and robbery charges after allegedly shooting and killing a man who tried to intervene when they robbed a grocery store.

Police received reports of gunshots at a Fred Meyer grocery store in Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood around 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 13., the Portland Police Bureau wrote in a press release.

There, they found 47-year-old Jonathan Trent on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, according to local station KOIN.

"The initial investigation suggests that Trent was shot after witnessing a robbery and attempting to stop the suspect," the police wrote in their press release.

CRIME TURNED PORTLAND INTO A ‘HOLLOWED OUT SHELL.’ ITS NEIGHBORS ARE TRYING TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING TO THEM

In an update shared on Jan. 23, police announced that they arrested a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old on murder and robbery charges in connection with the incident. Another 15-year-old, who knows the other two teens, was arrested for a separate Jan. 1 robbery.

Police believe the 16-year-old was involved in a string of four other robberies that took place in the area during the first two weeks of the year.

PORTLAND POLICE TO DISBAND PROPERTY CRIMES UNIT, CITING STAFFING ISSUES: 'NOT UP TO OUR AUTHORIZED STRENGTH'

Sgt. Matt Jacobsen of the police department's major crimes unit told KPTV that investigators arrested the teens after learning that several crimes that occurred in the area in the 48 hours after the shooting were all related.

"Throughout the course of the investigation, we’re able to identify five events that were related to this group," he said. "This type of crime with these youths is fairly uncommon. Unfortunately, guns are available in this community and it's deeply concerning to see youth of this age, armed with firearms."

The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office is deciding whether the two teens charged with murder will be tried as adults, KPTV reported. Fox News Digital could not reach the office for comment at press time.

The three teens, whose identities have not been released due to their minor status, are all being held at Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Facility.

CRIME-RIDDEN BLUE CITY NOW HIRING MORE POLICE. WHY THEY CAN’T GET THEM ON THE STREETS FAST ENOUGH

A GoFundMe initiative was launched to help the man's son and his son's mother in the wake of his death.

"Jon was a man of warmth, kindness, and joy who brought light to everyone around him," a friend who organized the fundraiser wrote on the page. "He was a constant presence at the pool, supporting [his son] and inspiring our community with his positivity and generous spirit... His loss has left a profound void in our hearts and the lives of those who knew him."

Title IX probe into Florida's Todd Golden dismissed, lawyer says

A Title IX investigation into Florida Gators men’s basketball coach Todd Golden was dismissed, his lawyer said in a statement on Monday.

Attorney William Shepherd issued a statement to CBS Sports regarding the investigation into claims made about Golden.

"The investigation has found no evidence to support the allegations against Coach Golden," the statement read. "The University’s conclusion proves that the complaint was meritless."

Golden was accused of sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking and cyberstalking multiple women, including students, in November. A report in the school’s student newspaper claimed that Golden made unwanted advances on Instagram, requested sexual favors, and sent photos and videos of his genitalia.

The Title IX complaint was reportedly made on Sept. 29.

Shepherd ripped those who tried to generate a "false narrative" around the Gators head coach.

"Coach Golden and I have respected the process throughout while actively engaging with the University. However, there were many who did not respect the investigative process. Instead, they sought to target Coach Golden and drive their agenda and this investigation for their own self-interest. Some leaked confidential material to the media; falsely posed as a UF lawyer in an effort to intimidate; harassed UF students and parents to try to generate a false narrative; and harassed my client, his family, and his friends.

Golden denied the allegations in a statement in November and said he would weigh a defamation lawsuit.

"For the last month, I have actively participated in and respected the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry," the statement read. "I have recently engaged Ken Turkel to advise me on my ability to bring defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing.

Trump's border ground game is off to a fast start. To guarantee change Congress must do 3 things

We’re only a week into President Donald Trump’s second term, and the executive orders have been flying out of the White House like unidentified drones from a New Jersey hanger—particularly on border matters. Let’s take stock.

The trees felled for Trump’s blitz of directives shouldn’t obscure the forest, which is a clash of two ideologies.

On the left is President Joe Biden’s globalist acceptance of mass migration, coordinated by the UN and paid for by rich nations.

BORDER ENCOUNTERS DROP SHARPLY AS TRUMP LAUNCHES CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

On the right is the perspective championed by Trump, which holds that sovereign nations with secure borders decide who enters their countries, and on what terms.

Trump’s ground game makes sense with that big picture in mind. It’s two-fold: undo the policies that drew illegal migrants in, and ramp up the moribund process of removing those already here.

The Biden administration accepted that mass migration from the Third World to the First was unavoidable—even desirable. Their strategy was to create what they called "safe, orderly, lawful pathways," euphemisms which disguised allowing mass illegal entry via unauthorized parole programs. They combined this with releasing aliens caught entering illegally at the border into an endless, desultory asylum process.

They flew these aliens all over the country and diverted federal funds to support them. To make certain few would ever be removed, they crippled interior enforcement through procedural limitations and red tape. The final stage would surely have been to extort a mass amnesty from Congress.

The toll from the last four years is breathtaking. Over 11 million people were encountered trying to enter the U.S. illegally. Former Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas once admitted that DHS was releasing more than 85% of them. I saw it for myself in Arizona, California, and Texas.

5 LIES BIDEN USED TO BREAK THE BORDER … AND HOW TRUMP CAN FIX IT

Inadmissible aliens were let in from 180 countries, with 1,000% increases from Afghanistan, China, and even less friendly places. Over 542,945 unaccompanied alien children were let in, and unprecedented numbers of Special Interest Aliens and people on the terrorism watch list. For most of these people, the U.S. had no verifiable identification, let alone criminal history back home. This resulted in preventable crimes that we will continue to see for years.

Americans saw the results, and a majority voted for Trump to secure the border and enforce immigration laws. What he’s implementing now is a strategy along multiple lines of effort to turn off the magnet attracting illegal migrants, stop funding the influx, and ramp up enforcement.

In a nutshell, the aim is to deter, detain, and (if so ordered) deport illegal migrants, rather than process them in and punt them into an endless legal process quagmire.

TRUMP’S ICE NABS CHILD SEX OFFENDERS AMONG 530+ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CAUGHT IN SINGLE DAY

In his Monday executive actions, Trump declared an invasion at the southern border—and an emergency, for good measure. He called Mexican cartels terrorists and called for "maximum" vetting for visa applicants. He ordered wall-building restarted. He ended the parole programs Biden used to bring in 75,000 off-the-books inadmissible aliens every month.

Trump has ended catch-and-release at the border and unchained ICE from onerous process rules. He instructed agencies to deprive uncooperative "sanctuary" jurisdictions of federal funds.

Though this has been an incredible week of action, much more needs to be done. The government will be fighting scores of lawsuits from activists, naturally. But to make Trump’s achievements lasting, Congress will need to change some laws.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

1. At the very least, they should aim to cap immigration parole so it can never again be perverted to bypass our refugee process. To meet the detention requirement of existing law, plus the new Laken Riley Act, they should fund more beds for illegal aliens during their court process.

2. Congress should also end government funding of the U.N. entities and "non-profit" NGOs who’ve been fed billions to facilitate illegal mass migration.

3. Congress could amend the laws that incentivize smuggling children into the U.S. and then require states to educate them. They could also cut illegal aliens off from federal welfare.

Some of that is too much to hope for. Congress has other big fish to fry. But this week, it’s hard to imagine that more progress could have been made on border security in so little time. And only once the border is secure will discussion of legal immigration reform be palatable to the public.

TSA officer reportedly caught with firearm in busy Atlanta airport is arrested

A TSA officer was arrested at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday after police received a report of an officer with a firearm beyond the security checkpoint. Atlanta police say that the officer, who was identified as 58-year-old Matthew Gilbert, was charged with reckless conduct. It is unclear why Gilbert was allegedly carrying a firearm.

Gilbert was taken to Clayton County Jail and has since been released, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The local outlet added that Gilbert is not alone when it comes to airport employees carrying firearms, noting that police say dozens have been caught.

"We do not want guns in the secured area of the airport," said Capt. Toya Young of Atlanta Police told Fox 5 Atlanta. "Prior to getting to the secured area, you're free to carry, but once you're entering into a secured area, it is against the law to carry a firearm."

TSA REVEALS TOP UNUSUAL FINDS AT AIRPORT SECURITY CHECKPOINTS IN 2024

A graphic on the TSA’s website indicates that officers confiscated 440 firearms at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, more than any other in the nation. The agency claims it intercepted more than 6,670 firearms in 2024.

"One firearm at a checkpoint is too many," TSA Administrator David Pekoske said in a statement. "Firearms present a safety risk for our employees and everyone else at the checkpoint. It’s also costly and slows down operations."

EVERYDAY BEHAVIORS BY FLIGHT PASSENGERS THAT ARE RED FLAGS FOR TSA

For those who must travel with firearms, the TSA has clear instructions on how to legally do so.  However, TSA says there are "limited exceptions for law enforcement officers" when it comes to traveling with firearms.

When asked for comment, a TSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital, "TSA is aware of the arrest of an officer at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Tuesday morning."

"TSA has zero tolerance for misconduct on or off duty and the officer involved has been removed from screening status, placed on leave pending further action, based on resolution of the case. Passenger and employee safety is top priority for TSA, and we are working closely with our Atlanta Airport Police partners on this incident."

Fox News Digital reached out to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, but has yet to receive a response.

Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge ‘in a shocking state’ as disgraced duke maintains garden to pinch pennies: report

Prince Andrew is getting his hands dirty as his Royal Lodge home reportedly continues to crumble.

The disgraced Duke of York has been attempting to maintain the 21 acres of garden that surrounds his home, the UK’s Daily Mail reported on Friday. According to reports, the 64-year-old is trying to develop a green thumb in hopes of pinching a few pennies after his brother, King Charles III, paid his rent.

"It is in a shocking state," Todd Longstaffe Gowan, the Historic Royal Palaces gardener, told the outlet.

KING CHARLES HAUNTED BY PRINCE ANDREW AS 'GRUBBY' DUKE HUMILIATES MONARCHY IN 'YEAR FROM HELL': EXPERTS

"I won't be knocking that into shape! It is impossible!" he declared. "I've been at Kensington Palace for 30 years, and I think Royal Lodge would be quite impossible."

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Insiders claimed that Andrew’s efforts were no match for the royal garden. According to the report, the 30-room mansion is surrounded by shrubbery and woodland, as the flowers that once bloomed are nowhere to be seen.

It’s not the only drastic change that has been occurring on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Over the last few weeks, Charles has reportedly ordered precious artifacts to be removed from Andrew’s home, due to maintenance and security concerns. Now, only empty shelves are reportedly seen where the pricey relics were once proudly displayed.

Charlotte Griffiths, the Mail on Sunday’s editor-at-large, originally reported in November that the monarch was extending a generous olive branch to his scandal-plagued sibling and paying his rent. It's believed that's what their late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, would have wanted.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of "My Mother and I," agreed with Griffiths' scoop. She believes there’s a good reason why the king would still be coughing up the bill for his younger brother, despite the fact that several royal experts claimed to Fox News Digital that the relationship between Charles, 76, and Andrew had soured.

WATCH: KING CHARLES SECRETLY PAYING PRINCE ANDREW'S RENT, AUTHOR CLAIMS

"There’s absolutely no doubt that Charles is the one who is providing the money for Andrew, because the [late] queen wouldn’t have left Andrew bereft," Seward previously explained to Fox News Digital.

"She would’ve made a provision for him, and maybe that provision came through his elder brother as monarch," she shared. "When the king dies or the queen dies, the money goes to the next monarch. Everything goes to the next monarch. So, she either would have made provisions for Andrew before she died, or she would’ve made provisions through Charles."

"I believe that Charles is helping him," Seward continued. "I don’t see who else would. I’m sure [Andrew’s ex-wife] Fergie would help him. I know Fergie does very well with her books, but I [can’t] imagine she would make enough to run Royal Lodge on her own."

"I certainly think that the only person who could really be doing this is either monies from the queen or monies from the king," she said.

Griffiths claimed that, according to "multiple sources," the king "has personally cleared his errant brother’s bills for his upkeep and promised his Royal Lodge woes would be taken care of, enabling him to stay there for the foreseeable future."

The editor also claimed that someone at a "glamorous — and usually ultra-discreet — dinner table" told her that "Charles has paid for it all."

"The King has cleared it. It's all done," the source claimed.

The palace insider, "who's been a guest at Royal Lodge in years gone by," claimed that not only did Charles handle the finances, but none of the funds came from taxpayer money.

The Sunday Times previously reported that Andrew raised enough money to live in Royal Lodge. The estate is worth a reported $38 million. According to the outlet, the prince's funds were approved by the Keeper of the Privy Purse as coming from "legitimate sources."

"The Duke of York, or Prince Andrew as we like to call him, always lived in a palace," said Seward. "He was in the navy, yes, but apart from being in the navy, he’s always lived in a palace. He lived in Buckingham Palace, and then his home was Royal Lodge, which is a very grand home — and he doesn’t want to leave it."

"I think King Charles . . . said to him, ‘Andrew, it would be so much better if you moved out of Royal Lodge and moved into Frogmore Cottage . . . because it’s been modernized inside. It’s been beautifully done up. It’s easy to run. It’s not expensive to run. And you’re within the security of the Windsor Castle compound, so it’s not going to cost millions in security.' But Andrew said, ‘No, I want to stay here.’"

Seward stressed rigorous upkeep — and plenty of funds — are required to keep the royal property in tip-top shape.

"It’s not just a little house in the middle of nowhere," said Seward. "It is huge and therefore needs a lot of upkeep. But I think that there’s no way he and Charles would’ve had a row about it, because Charles isn’t like that."

"He wouldn’t have said, 'You’ve got to get out,'" Seward insisted. "He would’ve suggested why it would be easier to get out. And Andrew said, ‘No, I want to stay.’ So, Charles said, ‘Fine, but I’m going to have to remove this very expensive security, and we’ll need to find an alternative.'"

It's also believed that Charles tried to use a loophole to get Andrew out of Royal Lodge.

London's Sunday Times previously reported that the king would have covered his brother’s living expenses if he had moved into Frogmore Cottage, the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After Andrew reportedly refused to downsize, the king axed his allowance.

Andrew has been living on the estate since 2004. He resides there with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

According to reports, he has spent over $9 million on repairs and renovations and $1 million to take it over. His annual rent is a reported $337,000. The property requires an estimated $503,000 annually for upkeep.

The Sunday Times reported that the king didn’t renew the contract for Andrew’s private security team. The monarch was paying for Andrew’s security after the prince lost his police protection in 2022. The security team is said to cost Charles nearly $4 million annually.

At the time, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told Fox News Digital that the palace wouldn’t comment on "security matters."

"The Crown Estate would’ve loved to get Andrew out of Royal Lodge, because they could rent the whole thing," said Seward. "It needs to be seen as making money. And as long as Andrew lives in Royal Lodge, that’s preventing them from making as much [money] as they could. It’s just too bad that he is the late queen’s second son."

While the duke secured a real estate win, Seward noted, "I don’t think the future holds anything for Prince Andrew."

"He has to do something, but for the last five years he’s been doing absolutely nothing," she said.

KING CHARLES CUTS PRINCE ANDREW’S $1 MILLION ALLOWANCE, PRIVATE SECURITY: BOOK

"If he was my son, I’d say, ‘I’m going to give you a beautiful farm in Scotland. Go up there and go into farming, and just disappear from life as we know it.’ You can still have a wonderful life, but Andrew doesn’t want to do that."

"There’s an old-fashioned expression, which is ‘hoist with your own petard,’ which means you’re strangled by your wishes," Seward added.

Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 after his Newsnight interview.

During the disastrous televised sit-down, he attempted to address his connection to late American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was also stripped of his honorary military titles.

A lawsuit filed in 2020 by Virginia Roberts Giuffre accused Andrew of sexually exploiting her on three occasions in 2001 when she was 17. Andrew has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

In 2022, a U.S. judge dismissed the sex abuse lawsuit against Andrew, who settled with Giuffre. The prince made a substantial donation to his accuser’s charity and declared that he had never meant to malign her character.

House GOP firebrand invokes Trump while mulling gubernatorial run in South Carolina: ‘I’m a fighter’

Rep. Nancy Mace says if she moves ahead and launches a 2026 Republican run for South Carolina governor, she'll aim "to lock down support" from President Trump.

"I had Pres. Trump's endorsement in the House and I am working hard to lock down support in this race. He said I am a strong conservative voice, he knows I'm a fighter," Mace said Thursday in a statement to Fox News Digital.

A day earlier, Mace took to social media to reiterate what she first told the AP, that's she's seriously considering a gubernatorial run in the race to succeed GOP Gov. Henry McMaster, who is term-limited.

WHY NANCY MACE CHALLENGED DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSWOMAN TO ‘TAKE IT OUTSIDE’

"President Trump needs bold leaders to implement his agenda in every state across the nation. It will take grit. It will take strength. It will take hard work. I can confirm, affirmative, yes, we are considering a run in 2026. South Carolina First," Mace said in her social media post.

Mace, who was first elected to the House in the 2020 election, didn’t vote to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6, 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol by right-wing extremists and other Trump supporters who aimed to disrupt congressional certification of former President Biden’s 2020 election victory.

HEAD HERE FOR THE LATEST NANCY MACE OPINION PIECES ON FOX NEWS

But she later blamed Trump for the attack on the U.S. Capital, and in 2022 faced - but survived - a Republican primary challenge from a rival backed by Trump.

Mace endorsed the former president as he ran for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination and campaigned for him in South Carolina’s crucial early voting presidential primary.

Trump returned the favor, backing Mace as she ran for re-election last year.

Mace told Fox News Digital that "I’ve proven my leadership, from the state legislature to Washington, my bold conservative policies are rooted in the Constitution, liberty, small government, and common sense."

"I believe in a government small enough to fit into the Constitution," she added.

2026 GOVERNORS RACES: RAMASWAMY DONE AT DOGE, EXPECTED TO LAUNCH OHIO GUBERNATORIAL CAMPAIGN IN DAYS

And Mace emphasized that "I kick a-- and take names from South Carolina to DC and back. That's the leadership the Palmetto State is looking for."

Mace recently made headlines by introducing a resolution to ban transgender women from using women’s bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol or the adjoining House office buildings. It's an issue of high interest to many voters on the right.

Trump is very popular in Republican-dominated South Carolina, and his endorsement in a GOP gubernatorial primary would be immensely influential among the state's conservative electorate.

Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, and state Sens. Josh Kimbrell and Sean Bennett are among those also considering gubernatorial bids.

It's going to be a crowded field, veteran South Carolina-based Republican consultant Dave Wilson told Fox News. "There's going to be a lot of people who are going to throw their hat in the ring."

"It's going to be a battle of the conservatives - how conservative you can be in South Carolina," Wilson emphasized.

McMaster, another top Trump ally, is on track to become South Carolina's longest serving governor. The then-lieutenant governor succeeded Gov. Nikki Haley in 2017 when she stepped down to become ambassador to the United Nations in Trump's first term. McMaster went on to win election in 2018 to a full four-year term, and re-election in 2022.

Bishop who lectured Trump defends sermon that set off firestorm: 'How could it not be politicized?'

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde joined "The View" on Wednesday to discuss her "mercy" plea to President Donald Trump at a prayer service this week, saying it was impossible for her viral message not to be politicized.

Co-host Sara Haines asked if she believed her message was being "misconstrued" or "politicized."

"I think if you read what I said, I mean, how could it not be politicized, right? We’re in a hyper-political climate. One of the things I caution about is the culture of contempt in which we live that immediately rushes to the worst possible interpretations of what people are saying and to put them in categories such as the ones you just described," Budde responded.

Budde asked the president to have "mercy" on the LGBT community and immigrants during the prayer service on Tuesday. Trump and Vice President JD Vance, along with their spouses, listened stone-faced as Budde made her remarks.

WHITE HOUSE OPM ORDERS ALL DEI OFFICES TO BEGIN CLOSING BY END OF DAY WEDNESDAY

"That’s part of the air we breathe now, and I was trying to speak a truth that I felt needed to be said, but to do it as respectful and kind a way as I could. And also to bring other voices into the conversation, voices that had not been heard in the public space for some time," Budde added.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Budde whether her sentiment would have had more impact in a one-on-one setting with Trump and whether she had that opportunity.

"I've never been invited for a one-on-one conversation with President Trump. I would welcome that opportunity," Budde said. "I have no idea how that would go. I can assure him and everyone listening that I would be as respectful as I would with any person, and certainly of his office, for which I have a great deal of respect, but the invitation would have to come from him."

Budde's comments drew considerable attention given the venue.

REVEREND WHO URGED PRESIDENT TRUMP TO 'HAVE MERCY' REACTS TO HIS CRITICISM: 'IT WAS A RESPECTFUL RESPONSE'

"Let me make one final plea, Mr. President," she said on Tuesday. "In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives."

She went on to say that "the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors."

Afterward, Trump told reporters he didn't care for the service.

Trump also sharply criticized Budde in a post on Truth Social.

"The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way," he wrote.

Ramaswamy done at DOGE, Ohio gubernatorial campaign launch expected early next week: sources

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is done at President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, a source close to the multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur confirmed to Fox News Digital.

And Ramaswamy, who along with Elon Musk, the world's richest person, was tapped in November by Trump to steer DOGE, is expected to launch a Republican campaign for Ohio governor early next week, according to the source.

GOP Gov. Mike DeWine of Ohio is term-limited and cannot seek re-election in 2026.

DeWine on Friday announced that Lt. Gov. Jon Husted would fill the U.S. Senate seat that was held by former Sen. JD Vance until earlier this month, when the vice president stepped down ahead of Monday's inauguration.

MUSK AND RAMASWAMY IGNITE MAGA WAR OVER SKILLED WORKER IMIMGRATION

Before the Senate announcement, Husted had planned to run for governor in 2026 to succeed DeWine. Ramaswamy, for his part, had expressed interest in serving in the Senate.

DeWine's decision to choose Husted to fill the vacant Senate seat appeared to accelerate Ramaswamy's move toward launching a run for governor.

Ramaswamy, 39, who launched his presidential campaign in February 2023, saw his stock rise as he went from a long shot to a contender for the Republican nomination.

CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS REPORTING ON VIVEK RAMASWAMY

Ramaswamy campaigned on what he called an "America First 2.0" agenda and was one of Trump's biggest supporters in the field of rivals, calling Trump the "most successful president in our century."

He dropped his White House bid a year ago after a distant fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and quickly endorsed Trump, becoming a top surrogate on the campaign trail.

Ramaswamy's exit appears to clear the way for Musk, Trump's top donor and key ally, to steer DOGE without having to share the limelight.

The move also comes a couple of weeks after Ramswamy and Musk sparked a firestorm among Trump's hard core MAGA supporters over their support for H-1B temporary worker visas for highly skilled workers from foreign countries.

Ramaswamy's comments criticizing an American culture that he said "venerated mediocrity over excellence" received plenty of pushback from leading voices on the far right.

Ohio, which was once a top general election battleground, has shifted red over the past decade as Republicans have dominated statewide elections.

Nancy Pelosi's daughter claps back at Jill Biden, tells her to worry about 'her husband's legacy'

Alexandra Pelosi, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's daughter, called out first lady Jill Biden and suggested "Lady McBiden" think about President Biden's legacy.

"If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy," the former speaker's daughter told Politico's Jonathan Martin in a column published on Sunday, noting that she was only speaking for herself. "There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi is one of them."

Nancy Pelosi had tried to speak to the president following his late-July decision to exit the race, but had "repeatedly been met with the same response from the president’s top advisers: The answer is no," according to the Politico column.

PELOSI DEMURS ON IF ‘EVERYTHING IS OK’ BETWEEN HER AND BIDEN: ‘YOU’D HAVE TO ASK HIM'

Nancy Pelosi joined the co-hosts of "Morning Joe" in July, following the president's debate performance, saying, "It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run," despite Biden's repeated assurance that he would remain in the race on several calls with Democrats and donors.

The media appearance was seen as another opening for the president to drop out of the race, which ultimately did happen.

After Vice President Kamala Harris lost the election, Pelosi suggested Biden should have dropped out sooner. Biden has since expressed regret over dropping out and has insisted that he could have beaten Trump.

"She’s been told they’re not over it, don’t make more overtures because he’s blaming her," a person familiar with the back-and-forth between Pelosi and Biden's aides told Politico.

First lady Jill Biden spoke to the Washington Post in an exit interview published Jan. 15 where she suggested she was disappointed in Nancy Pelosi over the role she played in influencing Biden to drop out of the race.

"It’s been on my mind a lot lately, and —" the first lady told the Post. "We were friends for 50 years. It was disappointing."

"Let’s just say I was disappointed with how it unfolded," she said, speaking generally. She also expressed confidence in her husband's ability to serve another term.

MSNBC's Biden interview loses out to comedy reruns in critical demo ratings

Despite extensive advertising and securing President Biden's final television interview of his term, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell's interview ratings lost out in a major demographic to comedy shows and reruns on other platforms.

O'Donnell's interview with Biden that took up the show's hour drew 1.2 million total viewers and just 97,000 in the critical 25-54 age demographic.

Repeats of "Seinfeld," "Family Guy", "Friends," "The Office," as well as an episode of "South Park" were some of the shows that won over MSNBC's interview with people between the ages of 25-54.

During the 10 p.m. ET hour, when O'Donnell's interview with Biden aired, Fox News Channel commanded a 68% share of total cable news viewers and 71% among viewers between the ages of 25-54, while MSNBC had 23% and 15%, respectively.

AMERICANS SHARE WHAT BIDEN’S LEGACY WILL BE AFTER HE LEAVES OFFICE: ‘MADE MISTAKES AND PEOPLE DIED’

While O’Donnell was beaten out by multiple comedy shows among cable television viewers, his interview with Biden was more highly rated than the prior week.

O'Donnell's ratings have dropped year-over-year from 2023-2024 with multiple age demographics, however. The ratings for "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" declined 5% in total viewers, 6% with people between 25-54 and 12% with ages 18-49 from 2023 to 2024.

O'Donnell's show was also down 41% in total viewers, down 45% with A25-54 and down 38% with A18-49 from Dec. 2023 to Dec. 2024. O’Donnell was down 19% with total viewers, down 13% with ages 25-54 and down 85% with ages 18-49 from quarter 4 of 2023 to quarter 4 of 2024.

LIES ABOUT BIDEN'S AGE, HEALTH DURING HIS PRESIDENCY IS A 'SCANDAL OF EPIC PROPORTIONS,' SCOTT JENNINGS SAYS

In 2024, Fox News Channel's time slot rival to O'Donnell, "Gutfeld," had an advantage of 69% in total viewers, and 152% higher ratings in the 25-54 age demo and 173% higher ratings in the 18-49 demo.

O'Donnell praised Biden throughout his interview with the president, telling him that he pulled off a "magic trick" by passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and combining "domestic and foreign policy" as president.

Cubs elect Sammy Sosa to team's Hall of Fame after years away from team due to PED questions

Former Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa is being elected to the team’s Hall of Fame, alongside former first baseman Derek Lee.

The step towards reconciliation between Sosa and the Cubs began when Sosa released a statement in December.

"There were times I did whatever I could to recover from injuries in an effort to keep my strength up to perform over 162 games. I never broke any laws. But in hindsight, I made mistakes and I apologize," Sosa said in a statement through Aurora Global Consulting.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

After that statement, Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said the team is "ready to move forward together" and invited Sosa to the Cubs' annual fan convention.

Sosa attending the convention was the first time he had been with the Cubs in any official capacity since he last played for the team in 2004.

Sosa said that the apology in his statement from December was not about using performance-enhancing drugs.

"No. I'm referring, for example, look, 21 years out. I had the fans that loved me very much. I had to apologize to them, because, I mean, normally, they see me play so many years."

When Sosa was announced at the convention, he received a large ovation and ran onto the stage with an American Flag.

"People grow up," Sosa said via ESPN. "That's what happened to me. To give that statement out, it was the right time for me. The response right away was incredible. Now, the door is open, I have to continue to contribute (to the organization)."

"I think that today was a perfect day."

Sosa played 13 seasons with the Cubs and is the franchise record-holder with 545 home runs.

Sosa finished his big league career with a .273 batting average and 609 homers — currently ninth on the career list. He also had 1,667 RBIs and 234 stolen bases in 18 seasons from 1989 to 2007.

Because a lot of Sosa's success has been clouded by questions about performance-enhancing drug use throughout his career, he did not make the Hall of Fame on the Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballot.

Sosa’s next chance for Hall of Fame consideration will be if he makes the ballot for the contemporary player committee.

Sosa and Lee will be recognized in the team’s Hall of Fame at a game this summer.

'Rings hollow': Biden ripped for warning of oligarchy 'taking shape' in US despite deep ties to billionaires

President Biden was widely panned by conservatives on social media after warning in his final speech to the nation of an "oligarchy taking shape in America."

"That’s why my farewell address tonight, I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern," Biden said in his farewell speech on Wednesday night. "And this is a dangerous — and that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultrawealthy people, and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked. Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead."

"We see the consequences all across America. And we’ve seen it before."

Conservatives on social media quickly reacted to that comment with criticism pointing to the billionaires that Biden has associated with over the years, including liberal megadonor George Soros, who he recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

6 DEM-SUPPORTING BILLIONAIRES BIDEN DIDN'T MENTION WHILE CALLING OUT POLITICAL 'OLIGARCHY'

Fox News Digital previously reported on several billionaires who donated to President Biden's re-election campaign last year, including Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs, and Alphabet Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.

"Joe Biden didn’t call out Iran, China, or the wars he helped create in his farewell speech—but he attacked American citizens, calling them ‘oligarchs’ and ‘a threat to democracy,’" GOP Congresswoman Nancy Mace posted on X. "A fitting end to a presidency defined by blame and failure."

Mace added in another post, "Joe Biden discussing democracy, a free press, institutions and the abuse of power in his final farewell speech is rich."

'WORST FAREWELL SPEECH IN PRESIDENTIAL HISTORY': BIDEN'S OVAL OFFICE GOODBYE PANNED AS 'DARK'

"Joe Biden, who just awarded the Medal of Freedom to George Soros and gave his own son a free pass for any and all federal crimes he committed over the course of a decade, now wants you to know that oligarchies are bad," conservative commentator Matt Walsh posted on X.

"Yes, Biden, opponent of the wealthy and powerful…who just gave the nation’s highest civilian honor to…George Soros, Hillary Clinton, Ralph Lauren (net worth $11 billion), and Magic Johnson (net worth $1.6 billion)" American Compass managing editor Drew Holden posted on X.

"Biden’s oligarchy warning, while with merit, rings hollow from the leader of a party fueled by billionaires," former White House correspondent Ron Fournier posted on X. "Truth is, the monied class rules both halves of the corrupt duopoly."

"INCREDIBLY RICH for Biden to warn about ‘power concentrated in the hands of a few wealthy people’ when their entire political apparatus has been fueled by Arabella Advisors and George Soros for decades," Republican communicator Matt Whitlock posted on X.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
